Mahomes started that game 6 for 12 for 45 yards and an INT.

He finished 24 for 27 for 359 yards and 5 TD.

Just a ridiculous run to close.

What’s wild is that there’s a chance he’d be 5-0 over all 4 AFC South teams had Reid said **** it and started him in the 2017 playoffs.

It was great, but would like to see a much better start in remaining playoff games. The margin for error will be much tougher against teams like Buffalo, Cincy/TENN, and Tampa/Green Bay.

I mean, look at our SB run. Mahomes wasn't perfect, especially against the 49ers, but he still clutched it out.

Point being, as long as Mahomes is playing and there's time on the clock, we can win.

I can only dream that we would have had the balls to bench Smith for the 2017 playoffs. What could have been.

It doesn't work that way.

Chris Simms just had a great segment where he said he has never seen a team like the Chiefs. Maybe there was someone before the 1980's.

But what he noticed is that KC often looks good but ordinary. They did the same thing on the Superbowl run, the switch flipped and KC would rattle off TD's.

I think it's just another level that Mahomes reaches and he can't just decide to do it. It happens where he stops thinking altogether and God Mode activates.

In another thread, I mentioned a friend from Green Bay called it KC as "Seabiscuit".

4:40 in Florio and Simms discuss the Chiefs when they get into the zone.

I think a lot of our slow starts in playoff games are on our receivers dropping passes that kill drives.

I think they press a little bit. Like they come out trying to do too much.

It's almost like they need some things to go very, very wrong to switch on God mode.

It was one game .

This offense has been nails on first drives this year.

I think Mahomes has a tendency to come out amped up in the playoffs. Seems to take him a drive or two to settle in.

Yeah. I think the receiving corps does a little bit, too.

We've traditionally seen some drops early in the play-off games, but then they settle in and just kill people.

And really, they didn't look completely awful even in the first couple of drives in that game.

I mean...on rewatch that is. I was DRUUUUUUNK - I have no memory of that game in real time.

But I expected to see a complete shitshow and was pleasantly surprised to see that it was just a few little issues here and there.

It wasn't god mode that got activated or anything - they just finished drives. They were moving the ball okay even before the scoring started. They just weren't quite all the way there yet.

I'm not worried about a slow start.

It would be nice to cruise out to a smooth start but if he finished like this it wont matter how slow they start.

No more snaps for Josh Gordon was the key.

More Pringle - and gasp - more Robinson is a good thing.

Just amazing how washed Gordon apparently is.
