IT ****ING HAPPENED
OP UPDATE: Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! Last edited by Dante84; 05-17-2017 at 09:40 AM.. |

But consider it payback for when Hill slipped on that 3rd down pass that's a probable conversion. And ultimately Hill's explosiveness had a lot to do with the DB having to cut that hard anyway. Good throw. One of the few I've seen him really rip with conviction of late. That's been the weirdest part and why I think this is mental for him. He's aiming balls. He's acting like he's thinking through the throw as he's making it. He's not doing the ol' 'grip it and rip it' thing at all. I just think those early interceptions got in his head and he's suddenly unsure of himself. It's impacting every part of his game. Shit man, you've played a lot of Madden - think of how tentative you get if/when you throw a couple early picks. And that's just a stupid video game but if you are turning the ball over a lot, suddenly you start to see ghosts and stop doing stuff that's worked for you forever (especially when that stuff is what led to the turnovers in the first place). He's just gotta get his mind right.

Probably slipped because he was trying to stay with Hill.

Old Mahomes is still there. Just needs to find consistency.

Hardman had inside leverage on the guy that was supposed to get deep with him and the safety help had his back turned to the green where Mahomes was throwing the ball, so when he turned his hips, Hardman was going to break past him. The problem is that Hardman slowed the route and Mahomes didn't quite execute the throw (maybe because Hardman slowed the route, maybe not). But if Hardman stays on the afterburners and Mahomes puts that about 3 yards further in front, Hardman coasts under it for the score. I NEVER want to see that aggression beaten out of Mahomes. He needs to take that shot on occasion lest we become just another vanilla offense and just another team that's hoping to get the the post-season and get lucky. The Death Star can't just go into mothballs and the quickest way to put it there is to neuter the kid by blasting him for throws like that shot to Hardman. That was a 100% justifiable decision. From the stands I thought he was going to hit it once I saw him look downfield. It just didn't quite work out for a couple of reasons. Shit happens - keep firing.

Looks to me like that look to the right is all dressing. I'd bet he was going to Kelce all the way there, just wanted to look off #51 as much as possible to get a little window. Perfect spiral, perfect placement. If Kelce catches that he can probably get another 5-10 yards of RAC. |

If anything, those three deep shots he took will scare the living shit out of DCs who see we will still try that.
Opening up the underneath even more.

Look at the pass blocking, in particular McKinnon. You can’t ask much more from a guy of his stature. Mahomes seems to be the anti-Brady; one guy cements his feet, bobs up and down in place while scanning the field despite chaos all around him— the other needs to move and roll out in order to see / feel what’s open. Maybe that habit is simply burned into his hard drive from playing at TTU, and he can never be as effective doing 3-5 step drops. I dunno. |

I get it —the man can throw darts in or out of the pocket, and I’m not speaking in absolutes, but in my opinion based on observations, the Chiefs’ current starting quarterback, Patrick Mahomes II, seems to perform better and make more dynamic throws/plays when he’s rolling predominantly to his right, but of course also to his left. Whereas many QBs panic when on the move— he is much more comfortable when mobile. He almost seems to prefer it. Not arguing, not shitting in anyone’s meat; just an anonymous internet dude speculating as a casual observer. |

Just read that Madden dropped Mahomes rating from 99 to 98… In a weird way I think this may motivate Patrick and we may see a big game from him Sunday nite. I think he pays attention to that stuff.. I really think he and Kelce will light it up…

Not really worried about Mahomes. I am worried we have a bunch of JAG's at #2 WR who can't consistently separate.
