OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Patrick was doing that with the turf toe injury too, and people say Allen is more athletic than Mahomes

Fun fact: 54% of @PatrickMahomes rushes in 2021 have gone for a first down.

His first-down percentage has never been higher than 35% in previous seasons.

Lamar Jackson's first-down percentage: 38%.

Thats because he is picking and choosing when to run now. RPO's are long gone from the playbook.

Interesting and I just read Mahomes was the fastest ever at 60 (before Allen)so that means Mahomes threw it a little faster at the combine than Rodgers.

I don't know if they tracked velocity back in 2005 Combine. Might be a pretty recent trend at the Combine. Baker Mayfield also clocked 60 mph. There are a bunch of guys with strong arms when their feet are under them. What makes Patrick so different & special is that he retains the same velocity without having his feet under him.

I love the NextGen video below. Mahomes scrambled around 45 yards behind line of scrimmage, then launched a 61 mph accurate throw without his feet under him.

Good point. Also the Mayfield speed is interesting...there's no way his arm is as strong as Mahomes off platform on on. You're tight though...when it comes to off platform throws Mahomes is easily the best ever.

Marino is pretty close considering his lighting quick release

Really you think so? I was pretty young when I was watching Marino, so I could be wrong but I don't remember him being able to sling it off platform like Mahomes.

Marino had a Baseball background too (drafted by the Royals) he didn't have the midfielder torque but a metric ****ton of sidestep throws with a defender draped over him.

It's OK to say that other QBs are great. In fact, it's dumb as hell to pretend Mahomes is head and shoulders above the field.

Something else Chiefs fans need to hear: Mahomes really isn't unique. A lot of the off platform throws we've seen him doing over the last few years, we've already seen from Rodgers.

Rodgers rarely throws back across his body, from outside the numbers, into the middle of the ****ing field. Show me. Only Mahomes gets away with that.

Rodgers probably has the ability to do it. But he’s way more conservative to protect against turnovers. Mahomes has the Favre aggressiveness in him. We saw the bad side of it a few times this year where he refuses to give up on plays and it leads to some pretty dumb throws.

Rodgers is not as reckless as Mahomes. Dude hasn't thrown double digit INTs since 2010.

But I bet I could find some of those types of throws so I'll look here in a bit.. Hell, the one CasselGotPeedOn posted in the GIF thread was from the right hash to the opposite numbers, 40 yards downfield, without his feet set, and the defender crashing into him as he follows through.

Rodgers also tries to throw into triple coverage on 3rd and goal when he could have damn near walked it in for a TD in the NFCCG.

Then blames everyone else for losing the game. **** that guy.

A lot of mahomes INTs, which are still pretty few and far between, tend to be the right read, just couldn't get the throw off.

Majority of these happen in heave situations. Third down where he decides a risk is as good as a punt or where he pressures himself to make a throw he shouldn't. Many of these were the right reads where physically it just missed by a little bit. Many of the "dropped INTs" his critics point to were offsides free plays. Other INTs are tips and dropped passes.

Be curious to see the INT rate outside of that. Has to be very minimal especially given his low INT rate already
