*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

It's bad. The line is better for the most part, but he still has trust issues it seems and is unwilling to stay in the pocket. Aside from that. No one is open downfield hardly at all. The Bills blanketed our receivers last night. Which led to a plethora of checkdowns.

Last night Patrick Mahomes played for the Buffalo Bills. And Alex Smith came out of retirement for one last ride with the Chiefs.

Andy better figure something out and figure it out in a hurry.
I think the trust issues are with the tackles and they're at least partially reasonable concerns. They're not protecting him as well as he was used to for most of the last 2 years. Partly he needs to have more confidence to stand and deliver and partly they need to improve to give him that confidence

After all, the reigning AFC champions have a major crisis on their hands that has nothing to do with their unquestioned leader’s uncharacteristic struggles.

The scary part?

Glad this recognises how poorly Sneed has played. There's another thread with people convincing themselves he's an All Pro. I understand the enthusiasm from last year, he's got talent, but he's been turd this year. Feels like a lot of Veach picks start promisingly in this system then regress. Not sure if it's injuries, scheme issues, being asked to do more in their second year against better opposition, or just that they're not that good.

My feeling is anyone who is involved in drafting a generational talent at QB deserves massive credit. It's THE piece to get right. But if you then build rosters that fail to give that talent a shot at the SB, you deserve some criticism too. Obviously QBs can regress, great players can have off years, and sometimes coaches f**k decent rosters. But right now the roster feels wafer thin in some crucial spots.

He might be a shit coach (sure looks like the case).

But a Golden Retriever could be the coach and a guy being paid like Frank Clark should be able to do better than 105 out of 105.

That contract is just a disaster.

Unfortunately, dumping the contract is not going to fix the situation. Clark’s money will end up with guys like Mahomes/Tyreek. Patrick’s cap hit is under $8M this year and will skyrocket in the future. Tyreek is due for a raise on his next contract in the near future. They needed the savings on the Clark contract to be happening right now and last year instead of the future.

Mahomes and Gordon became instant soulmates in practice. He missed him so bad Sunday, all he could hear was the Titanic song leaking from his chest

Neutral observer here. I want my Patriots facing teams like the Chiefs in the playoffs again.

I don't see a great team in the AFC this year so KC still has a chance to make the playoffs and then make the SB. This year, Mahomes hasn't had the luck when it comes to avoiding turnovers. Last game his 2 INTs were not really his fault. Hill dropped a catchable ball. Could it have been thrown better? Probably. But it should have still been caught.

Defensive lineman intercepting a ball after a batted pass is just mostly bad luck.

Mahomes had a lot of turnover worthy plays last year and got away with most of them. Got lucky to not have to alter the way he took chances last year or end up with many more interceptions. Not saying he can't adjust. He probably can adjust and will adjust.
