*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Here's the best view.

You can see the two defenders he's trying to hold. They're committed to DRob. With Kemp streaking behind them and the possible threat of Mahomes taking off on foot, there's no chance either is able to make a play on the throwing lane.

There was absolutely zero reason to no look the pass there.
So the LB that missed knocking the ball down by just a couple feet, didn’t miss knocking it down because of the no look?

If that's the conclusion you come to after seeing that angle then we're done here.

Literally 32/32 starting QBs in this league, including Patrick if he was looking at him, make that easy throw to a wide open receiver and it results in a TD. Pat complicated things and Kemp is a trashcan so it resulted in an INT instead.

EDIT: Even with a perfect pass there's a chance Kemp doesn't score, but he'd have at least gotten within the 5 yard line.

Come on guys, that was a shit pass to a guy 10 yards down the field that could've scored. Some of you are terrified to give even a slight criticism to Mahomes.

Wait...are you talking about the LB who has all his momentum going to Robinson and is several yards away from Kemp? You think in the split second it would take Mahomes to turn his head to Kemp, he could reverse his momentum, and cover several yards in order to affect the pass in any way?

How slow do you think Mahomes turns his head/eyes?

The discussion was over if the no look to hold a LB was necessary.

There’s no discussion it was a bad pass. See. Not terrified at all……

There’s also no discussion that it should’ve been caught anyway.

Why was his momentum going towards derob? Could it be that was where it looked like the pass was going as the throwing motion started? Inconceivable, right?

Yes his momentum was going to DRob because Mahomes looked that way. No after that, Mahomes can go back to Kemp and make an accurate pass now that he's affected the LBs momentum. Or do you think QBs are supposed to keep their eyes on the player once they look them off?

2 of Patrick's interceptions did not matter.

1 of them wasn't even his fault, was a bad hands on Kemp.

Again - 3rd and 10 as long as you are throwing it deep I will never care if you throw a pick unless it's a game we are up multiple scores or in FG range. If you think those interceptions matter, you fail to understand the aggressiveness needed to win football games. If you neuter the ability to attempt to get a big play on 3rd down because you are afraid of mistakes it is a negative in the long run. Think of all the plays Mahomes or any QB can get - even MOST of the time on those 3rd downs or the amount of PI's you can get. Shit look at that 4th and 9 the Chargers got instead of kicking it. They got a PI on a guy who wasn't in the play. KEEP ****ING CHUCKING IT.

Turnovers are the biggest indicators of who wins/losses games right next to points. Saying some INTs don't matter is the stupidest shit ever. You're sacrificing a chance at points and giving them a chance for the other team to get points. Especially when you have a shitty defense like we do.

Some interceptions literally do not matter. Interceptions matter WHEN and WHERE they happen. If you decide you don't want to throw or take chances on 3rd and long in close games - what you end up with is Alex Smith.

Mahomes can and does routinely make those plays on 3rd and long or 3rd and 8. It's one thing if he's throwing picks on 1st and 2nd downs. He's not.

It's one thing if he's throwing picks when we are up multiple scores and we need to protect a lead. He's not.

It's rarely an egregious mistake if you throw a 20+ yard throw on 3rd down and it's picked off when you are in a close game and if you are not in FG range. It is essentially just like a punt. Sure it's a shorter punt, but if you neuter this type of aggressiveness you are forgetting all of the other plays where you get a PI on an aggressive throw or you get one of those Rodgers or Mahomesesque completion to keep the chain moving.

In fact, if your defense sucks like ours does, I would agrue that you need to play even MORE aggressively because once you give the ball back to the other team they are just going to score anyway. It doesn't really matter if it's a 40 yard punt or a 28 yard interception, if it's 3rd or 4th down. Now if it's 4th down territory and you throw a pick on 3rd down not so good, but none of those are examples of that.

That's because to you for some reason the only two results of the play can be interception or incompletion. A better 3rd down pass or decision gets a first down or at least the chance to make a 4th down decision. You're acting as if he doesn't throw the pick on 3rd down, it's automatically an incompletion and we have to punt anyway. That makes no sense.
