Must Watch Series

All this talk about series, how network TV Sucks, and how hard it is to find quality shows, and some excellent shows that fly under the radar, I need a comprehensive review of all the series I need to see.

For good entertainment, I would be willing to buy DVD sets. But I've recently picked up HBOGO by kiping it from my parents, and recently got Netflix and Amazon Prime.

Here is a listing of shows that I currently own or have seen all the episodes of. If it isn't on the list, just assume I haven't seen it.

Spoiler!

Here is a listing of shows on my list to watch (mostly due to this thread)
Spoiler!

I work a ****ton, so it is hard for me catch a series while it is on to get it on the DVR, but I recognize the entertainment value and am willing to go after the Must See shows. Accordingly, I'm not necessarily looking for anything that is still running. I'm up for watching stuff that has run its course.

So what say you, Planet? Which shows should I see?

UPDATED for the shows I've seen recently.

I saw this, it痴 coming out this fall. I really liked the original series, not sure how good it痴 going to be without Spartacus, but I値l give it a shot.

The story is based on the assumption that Ashur did not die on Vesuvius in the denouement of the second season of the original fiction.

I've been watching Black Sails. I'm on a historical fiction kick I think.

I really REALLY enjoyed that one. It got somewhat off the rails in the middle but pulls it all back in and absolutely crushes it by the end. .

I would have loved to see them continue it with a new series based on the Treasure Island part of the story with those actors. I know it痴 a short book but I think they could have done some cool things to expand it. It was just such a good pirate world and aesthetic they built.

Yeah, I'm really enjoying it. I need to find more series like it. I still haven't recovered from finishing The Last Kingdom.

Was in this exact same predicament. I watched The Last Kingdom and was obsessed with it. Followed that up with Black Sails and it was pretty much on the same tier of quality IMO. Definitely discovered a love for the historical fiction genre.

I mentioned it above a few days back, but if you haven't watched Taboo its a great one. Unfortunately season 1 was like seven years ago and they still haven't got around to filming a second season but sounds as though it's gonna happen. Even as a standalone I think its worth the watch.

Have you seen Harlots? It's decent. I have Vikings Valhalla in my queue but the original Vikings series is behind a paywall on Netflix.

Hardy seemed to love the role and was evidently instrumental in a possible second season.

I thought he'd given up on it.

And he's always so damn busy. I'd be surprised if he ever really found the time to make it and it just won't happen without him driving the bus. It was too much of a niche show.

Great series but I'm not gonna lie, was kinda disappointed that they made Flints character the way he turned out at the very end

I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it yet, but yeah...

Well, if what they did to Flint distresses you, avoid Our Flag Means Death at ALL costs.

Not so much distressing, but just kinda disappointing

Must we really shoehorn that angle into every improbable scenario?
