I think both those Santa Cruz models you showed me and the ramblers do an okay job with that. Not perfect, but not so much that the first thing you'll notice are the ugly old brakes.

Yeah having big disks and the bright red Brembo or Wilwood calipers is cool looking but it isn't really a deal breaker for me if I see a car that doesn't have them If any of that makes sense |

These look the best so far.
I think you should consider an updated 5 spoke look like the Foose Nitrous. http://www.mhtwheels.com/foose-b-639.htm Definitely would be good on the budget. |

Not looking for the 5-spoke and don't like those 'flourished' edges and stuff. Though I think I'm definitely leaning towards the one you quoted; that's the US Mags Rambler. The more I look at them on the car, the more I like the way all of that works together. Nothing obnoxious but nothing too boring or run of the mill either. They make a black set that I'd consider because it might go well with all the black on the RS front and the tires, but man I don't think I could risk that without seeing them on the car first.

Got the oil changed over lunch today and asked the guy at the desk if they had a catalogue. He said they did but that he used to be a rep for a company when he was in Las Vegas and worked extensively with a company that he could get wholesale on.
Wrote the name on a card....sure enough, MHT. Right where I'd been dinking around in the morning. He says he's done some custom wheels and such. My mechanic is a shade-tree mechanic that does great work (slowly) and has re-build a shitload of classics so I love the guy, but he's also an "I know a guy" kind of dude that wants me to talk to his buddy about wheels because he's a wheel dealer or something. I think I'll just stick with Plaza Tire and their guy because if he can get me that price from MHT, I know they'll back things if they don't fit, etc...
