NFL Network's Mike Silver reports Broncos GM John Elway proactively tried to trade Brock Osweiler during the 2014 season.
Per Silver, Elway is so sold on Osweiler that he was willing to accept a sixth-round pick in return, yet received no takers. The new coaching staff in Denver does seem to have taken a liking to Osweiler, who is mobile with adequate arm strength. (The widespread notion that he has a "cannon arm" is simply erroneous.) Regardless, Osweiler will start Sunday at Chicago's Soldier Field, and it would not be surprising if he had initial success in a high-percentage Gary Kubiak offense that plays to Osweiler's strengths. It REALLY annoys me when they do the same shit with Tamba. He should always be going at the QB, or at the most setting an edge against the run. Tamba just doesn't have the wheels to play coverage against running backs and tight ends anymore. |
