Week 1 - Let's talk about the Lions

Looks like the Chiefs are 6.5 point favorites according to Vegas.

How do you see this one playing out?

Jones out and maybe Kelce sucks but this is where coaching and game planning matters. We have the best there is and the best QB ever to play so I don't expect to just crumble.

Not exactly a murderers row of passing offenses in that stretch. Pretty poor group, actually.

Normally, our guys come out of the box slow and fall behind a couple of scores because the starters always think they will coast to a win. They get scared in the second half and they close the ga and win a squeaker in the final minutes.

This year we are minus Jones and Kelce. Our defense will likely give up 35 points to Goff and maybe force one or two punts. We will not generate the pass rush without interior pressure. Spags will compensate by blitzing but that will open up the short routes. It will take Lions mistakes to get them off the field.

On offense, without Kelce, we will be lackluster, but I am hoping that we score big in the second half with our grab bag of receivers somehow because we have Pat. Still, I am bracing for a 35-30 defeat at home, which will cause the national media to proclaim prematurely the end of the dynasty and Nick Wright will have to forget about the 20-0 season. I hope I am wrong and our receivers have a field day.

The biggest liabilities have been addressed, specifically the secondary whose best player was "overthrew the receiver". They upgraded both corners, and Joseph is really good at safety. Jerry Jacobs is serviceable until Moseley gets healthy.

The run defense was hit or miss, and the Carolina game was an anomaly during that final stretch. I trust the current LBs and DEs to handle their assignments, but the DTs are the biggest question marks right now.

Top 12-15 by the end of the year? Maybe. They were certainly trending upward with less talent last year. At this point I'm still like, "Just don't look like shit on national TV, and we can build from that", lol
You didn't mention CJ Gardner Johnson at safety, Barnes looking good at LB, Campbell and Branch being impact rookies, Charles Harris, Romeo Okwara and Levi O being healthy after missing all of last year, expected second year progression from Hutch, James Houston and Kerby Joseph... Drink the kool-aid my friend, this defense has way more talent than the stats last year would indicate.

Talent don't mean shit if you don't utilize it properly. Look at the 2012 Chiefs. 2-14 with 9 pro bowlers.

Thankfully the Lions don't have Romeo Crennel at coach and Matt Cassel at QB. We suffered enough with Patriot Way disciples, thanks.

I wouldn't call the Lions staff proven, either.

Having Bob Quinn at GM and Matt Patricia at HC was the absolute darkest time in Lions history. For a team with one playoff win in 60 years that is saying a lot. And it only ended 2 years ago, which makes this recent turn around so satisfying.

I swear hoodie B sent those fools out as under cover agents to sabotage the league. How many franchises have they destroyed? KC, Detroit, Houston, Cleveland, the Jets...

Same for us. The Pioli GM years are the worst in Chiefs history. A miserable win pct of 36.

The Lions are potentially in their Dorsey phase. Sacrifice enough offerings, one day may even make it to the Bart Varnch phase

Funny you say that, Dorsey is in the Lions front office.

Anything the Patriot Way touches is doomed to failure. We understand your excitement waking up from a very dark time. Been there with flying banners, gum wrappers, suicides in parking lots, an insane HC, the worst starting QB in the NFL for multiple seasons, etc…

If the Varnch phase means teams picking Trubisky and letting the GOAT side to you ate 10, sign me up for that.
