What Ballparks Have You Been To?

Or if you’re not a big baseball person, what other arenas have you attended for an event?

I’ll get us started with ballparks…

KC: Royals/Kauffman Stadium: first one I can sorta remember was in 1979. Still have a pennant from that year. 1979-2024

NYC/Bronx: Old/New Yankee Stadium: went to 7 games between the two ballparks and never saw the Royals win one game. 0fer 7. 2005-2016

NYC/Queens: Shea/Citifield: Shea was a toilet. Citifield is pretty good. Got to see game 5. 2005-2021

Baltimore: Camden Yards: great place. Softshell crab sandwiches. $40 seats three rows behind home plate. Good fans. Caught a bp Moustakas homer as I was inspecting the warehouse plaques. Royals won. Gordon went yard. 2013

Cincinatti: Old Riverfront: Ted Power got our family tix. He gave up a leadoff first pitch home run to Barry Bonds, but the Reds came back to win. 1987

Texas: Old Arlington Stadium: Don’t remember much except the park was horrible and we cooked for six innings before getting the hell outta there. 1984

Los Angeles: Dodgers Stadium: went to a few games there. Nothing exceptional about the park. Dodger dogs are overrated. Takes FOREVER getting in or out of that joint. 2000-2004.

Minneapolis: Metrodome: went to a few games there. Hamelin hit a moon shot to right. 1994-2006

Anaheim: Angel Stadium: only went once. Royals lost. Nothing stands out about the joint. It was hot. 2001.

St. Louis: Old Busch Stadium: went to a few games. Cool seeing Ozzie flip to start the game. And Donovan Osborne hit a grand slam at another game I attended. Place went ****ing bananas as he was the starting pitcher. 1982-2006

Pittsburgh: PNC Park: this place is a gem. Royals won both games I attended. Fireworks on the river after the Friday night game. Good fans. Good food options. 2024

Houston: Enron/Tropicana? Can’t remember if Enron was still in business…. My band was on tour and we had an extra night in Houston to hang so we went to a game. It was a blur due to being on tour, but we had a good time. I do remember the hot dogs being really effing good. Opened the roof in the 7th after the stretch. 2003

Detroit: Comerica: Greinke was pitching and he had a bad game. My only real weekend while working on a movie in Michigan. Nice ballpark. Good fans. 2010

Atlanta: Turner Field: on vacation with my then gf. Her brother drove us. Took forever getting into that place. Nothing very memorable. Though if you walked to a part of the parking lot, they had a piece of Fulton County stadium where Aaron hit his 755th. 2006

Denver: Mile High Stadium: tix were $3. I think there was something like 60,000 at the game. Few older buddies got me drunk. It was fun. 1993

I think that’s it for ballparks? Gonna visit Seattle in a couple months, so I’ll get that one crossed off my list soon.

1A: Busch Stadium- always loved the stadium, ballpark village, just a beautiful place or watch a ballgame
1B: PNC Park- as a Pirates fan, the beauty of this ballpark is unbelievable. It almost doesn't look real when you are sitting in the stadium. The only downfall is being nearly 10 hours away from where I live.
2: Wrigley Field- really cleaned that place up over the last decade, it's another great place for a game (complaints: some seats deal with obstructed views and parking is a MESS in that area)
3: Miller Park- fine, nothing special. Kind of a strange area for a ballpark in regards to the city. Just a decent park.

The K ...it's nice.

New Busch in St. Louis... I think it was my first baseball game outside of KC and it made me appreciate how on top of the game you are at The K.

Comerica in Detroit

Turner Field in Atlanta

Wrigley ...cool to step back in time, but not the best place to watch the actual game.

Chase Field in Phoenix... loved the TGI Friday seats in right field, kinda sucks the Diamondbacks are already bitching about a new park since it's only like 25 years old.

Dodger Stadium... maybe the most generic and seemed like there was like one or two entrances/exits for everyone to filter into/out of (the Royals walked in like 3 runs in the late innings or some bullshit).

Myrtle Beach Pelicans... can't beat the prices.

T-Bones... Ángel Berroa was playing.

Royals Spring Training... more expensive than minor league games that count.

I've been to ... hang on, let me check my list.

Coors Field.

I'm not a big baseball guy.

I went to Bush Stadium for a Chiefs-Cardinals football game back in the late 1980s, and I've been in the parking lot near the Royals Stadium, but not actually in the stadium.

Oh, wait. I've also been to a professional baseball game in Mile High Stadium before Coors Field was built.

Not a baseball fan but as an American Youth I played Baseball. Ballpark? We went and played the team at Mickey Owens Baseball Camp. So I was at the Mickey Owens Baseball Camp Ball Park. I've been to the Old Busch Stadium and the old Arlington Stadium. Went to a game at Arlington Stadium the year we played in the NAIA National Golf Championship in Fort Worth. We smoked weed in the stadium and there was no trouble. LOL Didn't play that well at West Haven Country Club. We missed the cut. But we cruised Rosebud St and went to a strip joint. One of the first times I ever went to a strip joint. I was green on that shit. Springfield didn't have strip joints in those days. I might have went to Royals Stadium once....it's foggy....

Yale Stadium Hartford CT. - The Yale Bowl Jets vs Giants season 1974. Jets won in OT on Joe Namath TD pass. First regular season NFL OT game. My Dad took me and my maternal grandfather. We rode the Amtrak train from Newark to New Haven.
I was 11 years old.

JFK Stadium Philly - 1974 World Football League game. Philadelphia Bells vs New York Stars. Stadium old and decrepit. Maybe 4,000 fans. Fights and fires in the stadium. My Dad and I left early.

Veterans Stadium Philly - 1971 First baseball game. Pirates vs Phillies. Dock Ellis pitched, Roberto Clemente on RF, Wille Stargell in LF, Bill Mazeroski at 2nd base and he hit a homer. Pirates won 11-9

I was at this stadium at least 30 times.

Arrowhead KC - for my 50th birthday did a bucket list event. Sat in front row on Chiefs 25 yard line next to replay booth. Chiefs beat Giants 31-7

2nd time I went w GBlowfish and sat front row 50 yard line for Chiefs vs Broncos on Christmas Eve. We won again. I'm 2-0 at Arrowhead.

PNC Park Pittsburgh. - About 5 times. As Pirates fan I think it is one of the best stadium in baseball. Food, location, amenities, comfort.

Shea Stadium and original Yankee Stadium New York - once for each as a kid. Hated both teams and went to Shea w best friend who is a fan and Yankee Stadium with my little league team. Teenager both times

Meadowlands Stadium New Jersey - Stadium sucks and three times there. Once for Giants, once for Jets vs KC in Dennis Byrd paralyzed game and 1st time was for my high school teams state finals.

Brendan Byrne Arena Nets Meadowlands - Nets vs Bullets as a young teen.

Verizon Arena Wash DC - Wizards and Capitals games

Nationals Stadium DC - only when Pirates came to town.

Spectrum Philly- Sixers game once

Madison Square Garden - NY City - Knicks and Rangers games vs Bullets and Blackhawks.

Nassau Coliseum Long Island - Islanders game I got free tickets to. Drive there sucked so bad.

Candlestick Park San Fran - was on top of Giants dugout. Giants vs Cardinals. Bonds played and Dave Parker was hitting coach for St Louis.

Oracle Park San Fran - A top notch baseball stadium w fantastic food and incredible views downtown in SF. I was there the first year it opened with a season ticket holder right at Club Level. I was there a few more times.

Oakland Alameda Stadium - I was there around 1997 or 1998 with a high school buddy from NJ who moved to Dublin CA to watch the A's. The stadium was a complete shothole back then and a tiny crowd.

Shark Tank San Jose - several times to watch Sharks games while living in Mountain View. Easy quick ride on Cal Train from Mtn View right to San Jose. Seats very uncomfortable and super tight on knees.

MCG Melbourne Cricket Grounds Australia - 3 day Cricket test match. Most ****ed up shit. 100,000 seat stadium and just 40 people there for first day of test match. No clue how cricket works.

Rodgers Arena and Rodgers Stadium Toronto - went to games for Raptors vs Wizards and Blue Jays vs someone I can't recall. Pretty decent stadiums.

Palafiera Stadium Forli Italy - basketball team with Darryl Dawkins.

Camden Yards Baltimore - my favorite baseball stadium outside of PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Been there at least 10 times. Located 3 blocks from the Wire neighborhood. Wrong turn leaving stadium likely to result in carjacking.

Fenway Park - bucket list item back in the 90's. Just a cool place to watch a game.

I think I have passed on going to more stadiums than I have attended. Seattle Kingdome, Cincinnati Reds, Detroit Tigers, Tennessee Titans, Miami Dolphins, AZ Cardinals and AZ Diamondbacks, Houston Astros at Astrodome, Saints at Superdome, Minnesota Twins, Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs.

I will likely be watching the Raiders Chiefs game this season in Las Vegas w my buddy Phil.

Let's see....

Royals/Kauffman Stadium
Busch Stadium (old and new)
County Stadium
Miller Park
Comiskey (old and new)
Wrigley
Yankee Stadium (old)
Turner Field
Truist Park
And I guess since they now play actual MLB games there, I can count the Field of Dreams Park in Iowa

Busch Stadium(the new one)

Whatever the stadium the White Sux play in is called. I think it was US Cellular at the time
Fenway Park (just a tour, not a game)
Petco Park

Football -
Arrowhead
Nissan Stadium (Nashville) NOTE; it is an ugly stadium with no gameday experience

Hockey / Basketball -
Kemper (Scouts & Kings games)
Bridgestone (Nashville) NOTE; the exact opposite of Nissan Stadium & Tit's games, great gameday experience for Pred's games
