That was one of the worst Buccaneers teams I had ever seen. I was at that game.

Love the Tampa orange popsicle color scheme.

I also thought when the officials switched from white pants to black, that it was one of the worst decisions ever. Anytime I see the white pants now...

I remember being really stoked and nervous about this game. Montana and Allen in the same backfield seemed like a Super Bowl recipe. I was wrong about that, but whatever.

Became a Chiefs fan when Montana went to KC. Hated Steve Young and George Seifert. This game versus the Bucs is where it all started for me

IMO he’s still the real GOAT. The most clutch player in Super Bowl history…

It was the right recipe.
You take the main ingredient and drop it it on the floor in the AFCCG and the recipe changes. Not for the better.

I still have the SI issue after that where he was on the cover. Most excited for a year I ever was.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Not exactly what I would call the reverse. The games now are typically close in the regular season and in the postseason.

I was a Chiefs fan starting in 1990 with DeBerg at QB. Defense and STs were really good and fun to watch. That being said, defense always sucked going against Buffalo in the playoffs. Offense was fun at times and very frustrating at times. I remember sitting there in shock and disappointment after the Chiefs went to San Diego in the '92 playoffs and got shut out.

Then the Chiefs went after Montana that offseason. That was such a breath of fresh air. Montana had a hard time staying healthy that first year (and probably 2nd, as well - can't remember for sure) but when he played, he was money. One of my fondest memories was that game at Houston in the playoffs. Montana was so clutch, it was a pleasure to watch. Even after getting beaten up for most of the game, he came through when it counted. Marcus Allen, as well. Those 2 were key FAs that helped turn the team from a WC team to an actual SB contender.

Agree with all this. The irony is that Dave Krieg saved the 93 season by going 3-2 as a starter. Montana was hurt a little in 94, but didn’t miss as many games. Of course Bono went 0-2 as a starter that year. I remember we barely made the playoffs in 94 and Miami easily beat us the wild card. Montana was physically done at that point.

I remember how much that game hurt to watch. Montana getting picked at the goal line and then Marcus Allen barely fumbling the game away. Sucked to watch the guys who got us to the AFCCG the year before choke.
