Chase Daniel breaks down the SB
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAVP...el=ChaseDaniel
This is a tough watch, and Chase loves the Chiefs, but as he goes through it, basically he admits this game was on Pat. Yes, there's times when the protection broke down, but he points out lots of perfectly good pockets where Pat doesn't make the right read, or is looking at the pressure...when there's really not any, or he just pulls the ball down to wide open WR's. He also points out something a LOT of posters here have pointed out. Pat's mechanics have regressed. And it wasn't until this breakdown that I really saw how bad it's gotten. There's times when his body and footwork are just so bad that there's no way he can make an accurate throw. So while we do need a left tackle, the hardest part about this watch is....this was really on Pat. Some of the early RPO play calls were just fine. It was just Pat playing the worst game of his career. Really odd. Just really odd to watch him play this bad, have mechanics this poor, not find the open reads...and Phills NEVER changes their defense the whole game. It was shell coverage the whole time, no blitzes, and just playing zone. Really wild to watch. Last edited by TheGuardian; 02-13-2025 at 09:28 PM.. |

no one said it was all Pat. But he had an epically bad game. Even the times when the pocket was there he made bad decisions. It's RIGHT THERE. Some people just have blinders on. |

There are a lot of people here that think Mahomes shouldn’t be expected to make great plays in good pockets because a few plays prior the protection didn’t do its job. He’s spooked and doesn’t trust it they’ll say. Well boo hoo. Or they think if a WR isn’t wide open when it’s time to throw then there’s no one open. NFL open apparently isn’t good enough anymore. |

Big Dom told Pat that black Jake from State Farm (Pat’s good friend) would end up sleeping with the fishes & white Jake (State Farm) if Pat didn’t throw the game. Pat is a good friend.

Yup this game was mostly Pat shitting his pants.
Make sure to zip him back up when you're done with him. Fact is, Pat shit his pants in the biggest game of his career. The protection broke down at times yes, but Pat also shit the bed more than anyone else on the team. Facts. |

I merely pointed out that once it was broken down that most of this game falls squarely on Pat.
I get that there's lots of people here who idolize him but all year there was a consistent theme by the "doomers"..... 1. Pat has regressed - it's clear he has 2. The issues with this offense will bite us in the ass when it matters most - it did I don't know if the issue is Nagy or what, but in some of those breakdowns Pat has a clean pocket, and has a guy wide open down field and literally goes to the checkdown. There's a bigger issue here than the offensive line. |

Pat played awful as did the entire offense.
And the play in this game that will be for nearly forgotten is the beautiful bomb TD Pat to Worthy. Hopefully a lot more of that in the future.

We’re in agreement on most of the other parts of your post. His mechanics, his rushed delivery on his deep balls, and him getting happy feet in the pocket were all problems this year.
But here’s what I want to know. What active QB do you believe wins Super Bowl 59 if they were starting for the Chiefs over Patrick? |

He's done this most of this year. Where people have done breakdowns on him and even in clean pockets he runs, sees ghosts, or just shits the bed. People on this board have pointed out all year his mechanics have regressed. People who break down football for a living have pointed it out. There's a deeper problem with Pat himself. He's literally not as good as he was a few years ago. A new left tackle won't fix that. |

Right, we don’t disagree on Pat’s regression this year, but I’m still going to press you for an answer to this question. Is there a quarterback in the NFL who wins Super Bowl 59 if they were starting instead of Patrick?

Well if he didn’t play terribly he could have won that game. As could probably at least a few other guys. People want to act like that was some super team. They were very good but also beatable in that game with better QB play. |

The biggest question is...why did that happen? Why have Pat's mechanics become so bad? In the breakdown he pauses to show that Pat isn't even position to throw a completion. So if you're asking for THAT GAME if I'd rather have someone else then yes I would. Because Pat played the worst game of his life. |

And I think that’s because no quarterback has won a Super Bowl when facing that type of pressure. Josh Allen went 9 out of 30 when facing this pressure from Houston’s front four in October. Joe Burrow has managed what, one career second half touchdown pass when facing that kind of pressure in 7 playoff games? We saw how Lamar did against us last year, but not even Tom Brady could hold strong when facing that pressure from the Giants. He started hearing ghosts and skipping balls to receivers throughout Super Bowl 42 and gave the Patriots a disastrous safety in Super Bowl 46. So basically, if we’re asking Patrick to do something against this kind of pressure that no quarterback has ever won against in a Super Bowl, it seems like a stretch to say the loss is entirely on him. Did he still have one of the worst games of his career? 100%. Both of these things can be true. Last edited by Chiefspants; 02-13-2025 at 11:48 PM.. |
