A Level Headed Review Week 12 2024

ST- Kickers continue to do the impossible by hitting things that are hard to hit. Hilarious watching the ball doink the ref in the head.

Schrader the hero of the game.

Defense - seems to still have a hard time with getting home on the pass rush without the extra blitzer. Didn't see if Uche had any snaps but since Young is a mobile QB they probably limited him again. It seems that every time we got burned on 3rd down the route was that under cross route that Pat made famous with Hill/Hardman in the AFC Divisional round against Buffalo a couple years ago. Just sneaking that WR under a go route. I'll have to go back and watch again, but it seems like we are really struggling on 3rd and long.

Maybe it's a focus thing? Seems like a lot of unnecessary penalties towards the end of the game, McDuffie looked lost on that TD pass and then commits the PI buy running into Moore.

TE - Kelce passes Jason Whitten for all time receiving yards. Noah Grey is really making himself known as a legitimate threat opposite Kelce.

OL - Wanya has gotten beaten bad a couple of times but so has Taylor. On the first TD pass you can see below it is Taylor losing to his man that causes Pat to run up in the pocket. Good news is Pat was only sacked once in the first half but it was Wanya getting beat around the edge.

Wanya got smoked again on the last drive in the 4th Q. I really hope DJ Humphries can get up to speed fast. The last two drives have been atrocious for the offense. Can't seem to get protection down for Pat, especially on exotic pressures. It's like they are so focused on providing help to the tackles that free runners are creating havoc for Pat.

Taylor getting owned by Clowney, the last play on the blitz JJSS missed picking up the blitzer instead chipping the DE.

RB - Steele/Hunt/Perine really stepping up and making big gains on the relief valve passes. Hunt with only 7 carries for 24 yards at half (3.4 yards per). Really gotta get the running game going more.

After watching the 1st half - Pat seems to be better and zipping passes into tight windows. I think he was being hesitant earlier in the year because he wasn't comfortable with the WR's making the catch on a tight window throw possibly leading to a turnover. You can also see Worthy is getting more involved in the passing game.

WR - I wasn't sure Hopkins had any emotions, every time he does an interview he is very reserved in his answers and emotions. This makes me very happy to see.

Intersting....really hope Worthy can turn it up as we get closer to the playoffs.

I have been wondering about time runoffs in this game. When the Panther receiver bounced off his head and they had no timeouts left (20 seconds left in the half), why was there not a 10 second runoff for the injury?

Then, on Pat's run at the end of the game the Chiefs had to take a timeout to avoid a 10 second runoff. What was that for?

To me it seems that both of these decisions by the refs were wrong. Not that they did well at much of anything this game.

The defensive line is underachieving currently… Chris Jones + 2 first round draft picks… and they aren’t getting sacks or TFL’s.

And Jawaan Taylor is a professional embarrassment.

After nearly setting the record for most penalties committed by a player in a season last year, you’d think he’d make it a priority to clean up his game.

He was tied for third most penalties entering today’s game.

I felt a couple of them were ticky tacky, but most of them sadly were earned, especially the DPIs or defensive holding or whatever. We looked sloppy on defense and it was reflected in the penalties. Pennel with the 15 yarder for tossing the RB was a dumb play on his part. I mean, the whistle blows and it's a full second before he slams the guy. Just dumb. Probably frustration.

Started to write a response saying "the problem was and is still the OTs" and that the DEs suck. But to be more positive, the WRs, TEs and RBs looked good.

Roll on Humphries and I guess hope for the best from Omenihu. Who knows, could still see Uche turning up.

Mahomes looks good when he has time in the pocket.
OL continues to struggle.
Defense is starting to look suspect in coverage. Still plenty of time to correct that, but not a great showing the last few weeks.

Agreed on the first one, not sure why they didn't have to have a 10 second run off.

Pat's was because the ball was jarred loose while he was in the field of play (by a **** hair) and I guess if a player fumbles the ball out of bounds there is a run off or some shit. They explained it, but I've never heard of that before. I think it was legit, just one of those head scratching NFL rules.

Glad people are giving Taylor some of this. Yes his pass pro is OK, but dear Lord the penalties are a nightmare

Wanya was getting destroyed by Clowney. Like what, two penalties in a row, holding and hands to the face? Or was that Taylor?

Either way, he single handedly ****ed up a drive.

Bright spots were Mahomes play in the first half and the very last drive, Worthy looking like he was a part of the offense and not just some gadget guy they throw in every once in a while, and Noah Gray continuing to show we'll be in good hands when Kelce retires.

Other than that, bad game. Terrible game for almost everyone in the 2nd half especially the offensive line and defense overall.

That was Taylor with the penalities per usual.

Closer game than thought to be going in but that's just who the Chiefs are. They just don't have many blow outs but always seem to be on the right end of the game. And play their best in January/Feb so no need to be worried overall.

The Defense is in a funk. A lot of that is they are playing very young corners and they are getting flagged a lot at times like today. Better to learn now than in January because we got what we got.

The O line hopefully will be getting help in the next couple of weeks. They really need it. The Panthers are not the best pass rush and they had Mahomes running far to often.

Taylor should be held to a much higher standard than Wanya.

Taylor has been in the league longer and is the third highest paid RT in the league.

Wanya is a second year player who is getting paid less than the Chiefs RB3 (Perine), and he’s playing on a bad knee.

Both are bad now, but Taylor deserves more criticism.

At least help is on the way at LT.

I disagree, if you watch the play he gets run right around. He is chasing pat into the pocket, this wasn't a choice by Pat but a necessity to avoid being sacked by a guy that wasn't being blocked.
