Is backing into a parking spot worth the effort?

Is it worth the time and effort to back into a parking spot?

Has this always been a thing? It seems like I've noticed it more and more over the last five to 10 years. Did back up cameras make it more widespread?

I don't seem to remember this practice 25 years ago.

I think it's obvious that traditional park front end, back up to leave saves time.

Is the risk of backing into a car driving by while leaving enough of a concern to start doing this practice?

Where's your fire then, if you can't wait an extra 30 seconds?

I don't own a large truck, but understandable the basic mechanics of steering.... and being able to turn out a tight parking spot is far easier if you back in.

I'm always suspicious of someone backing into a parking spot. It's like they are setting up for a quick getaway after robbing the place. Most people I see backing in really suck at it too, so it takes them forever. Basically I just hate all drivers since they are just in my ****ing way. Stay off my roads ****ers!

There are tricks to lining the car up and breezing through your reverse but it's embarrassing to discuss it outside of a drivers ed class.

If you also don't know how to line your front tires up with the back tires of the car in front of your parallel park, before you begin to park, you're a teenage girl.

Backing into a parking spot is easy as **** though. Maybe an extra 5 to 10 seconds to turn the opposite way then put it in R and go.

If people can do it efficiently, I don’t mind it. More often than not I get stuck behind some asshole who can’t figure it out and I have to waste my time waiting on them.

Also boats are different. I don't mind driving a boat to the lake but I'll take it in the ass before I put it in the water.

My dad has been backing into parking spots since I can remember going back to the early 80s. Once I asked him why and he said, "Quicker get away."

It used to be what real men did to show they were real men, now the back up cameras are letting anyone play.

Especially these days... watching a brand new looking Lincoln Navigator Yacht Edition **** it up several times when they probably have a 14" HD backup camera, side mirrors, park assist lines and arrows, and the damn car could probably park itself on the first try if you just let it.

If I'm going to the store I'll usually just park a little farther away and pull into the spot infront of me so I'm not backing out when leaving.

If I'm parking in a business lot or an event parking I always back in and it doesn't take me more than 1 attempt to do it. Is backing in really that ****ing hard? I dont even have a backup camera in my 2002 vehicle to assist me. We aren't talking about a single axle trailer here with a couple ton payload.
