Chiefs best draft move in the last five years
An Espn article over the weekend discussed what best draft move each NFL team has made over the past five years. Planteer fan favorite Adam Teicher weighed in for the Chiefs and said trading two second round picks for Alex Smith was the best draft move the Chiefs have made.

What other draft moves would trump this notion? Is drafting Marcus Peters in the first round larger than trading for Alex Smith? What draft move has this organization made that has been more impact full than trading for Alex Smith?

I'm not a big fan of year 1 and 2 but last year Dorsey pretty much nailed the draft.

3/4ths of our picks contributed year one and most likely the top 3 picks will start in year 2.

If your first 3 picks can start and play well in year one you've done some damned good drafting...

Whether you are a fan of AS or not it is not hard to see the difference having AS over any other QB since Green. Hence he has made the biggest impact on the performance of the team as a whole.
Remember we had Berry, Houston, etc. were all on this team prior to AS arrival and the team couldn't do shit because of the QB position.

Is there a difference between move and pick?

Move = when you trade up/down or make something happen
Pick = just making a good selection where to sit

In retrospect, the Smith trade was a good move. But if we're talking about picks, I'd lean toward Houston, followed by Kelce.

Picking up Maclin for a 3rd and a 6th also should be considered. (Small-market team sigh.)

Calm down and take a breath dude geez.
Although the move that got the team an extra pick that we used to draft Houston was awesome and all that. It was a 3rd round pick that panned out. That pick could have been used on any player. So the move that garnered the extra pick is pretty normal or average. Making a good choice with that draft pick was not a part of that move.

I find this hard to believe, probably will never know what Andy Reid's plan B would have been instead of Alex, but Andy Reid would have still fielded some sort of competent QB like he did for his entire career.

This isn't like Fat Scott and Todd Haley and Romeo Crennel playing scrubs at QB. Andy would have found a way to put a QB out there. May not have been as good as Alex but no way would we have been a shit team under Reid/Dorsey without the precious Alex Smith. They would have just got someone else.
