A txt conversation with a friend who's a lifelong Philly fan..

Overall, he likes Andy Reid and appreciates what he's done over the years. I feel that he's pretty much like most of us are about Marty. He's happy to see Reid go (like many of us were with Marty), but I've warned him that we've all learned sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. Anyway, here were some of his points:

"Jamal Charles will never be as great a RB from this day forward as long as he is a Chief"

Me: "He can catch passes you know.."

"Andy reid will make the Chiefs meaningful in the league as long as the owner sticks with him. But you will question some of the personnel moves when drafting. You will win games but you will get sick of the fumbled time management at the end of halfs and end of games. You will get tired of hearing 'I have to be better putting the players in the right positions'.. You'll really get pissed at 3rd and short and Andy calls a deep route to a double covered receiver. That's gonna piss you off post."

Me: "Can't be worse than Marty running it up the center's azz on 3rd and long "

Me: "Oh, and 2-14"

He feels very strongly that no matter how awesome Charles is running the ball that he won't get the carries under Reid.

I just thought I'd share..

Jamaal Charles had 1400 yards with less than 250 carries a few years ago. He's not a workhorse back. He literally is the PERFECT FIT for Andy Reid.

Give Charles between 200-250 carries and 50-70 catches, and he's going to ****ing KILL next year.

McCoy and Westbrook are not in the same league as Charles. Charles has 'all time' kind of talent.

****.

So we're going to put an emphasis on QB, throwing the football, and Jamal won't be toting the rock 500 times a game?

He's ****ing Satan...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I don't know how this will impact Charles, but I'm confident it will mean fewer Dustin Colquit punts and a shorter gross yardage average. Both are good things.

I wouldnt even waste your time talking to a delusional Eagles fan
I grew up in PA too. Philly fans are not delusional. They know their shit, it's just that there aren't many true fans. They didn't give Joe Pa a hard time until the game passed him by, nor have they given much shit to Jerry Manuel or Larry Brown. They gave shit to Reid because he wasn't winning. Understandable reaction.

What's been said above is accurate and most of what I've heard too. The "not wanting to run" deal is a bit exaggerated. I don't worry about it in terms of Charles not getting touches as much as I do passing too often in run situations like short yardage or goal line. And the game management stuff is totally true too.

I'm with Eagles fans on this, but not as extreme. Great hire, he'll make this team a lot better, but we really have to hope that Reid doesn't build a good team only to repeatedly shoot himself in the foot.

Well, at least we will get the screen game into the offense that should have been here since JC was a rookie.

Someone posted a spreadsheet yesterday comparing McCoy's carries and yards to JC's since they have both been in the league. It was very telling. We might as well just STICKY that and save everyone all the back and forth!

When Reid has had a good RB, that RB has gotten tons of carries.

It's a non-issue.

I am a life long eagles fan and he is very accurate. The reason people like him and I believe Charles will have less of an impact as a runner is because Ried has always looked to run second. He had McCoy one of the best runners in the league and would consistently pass on short yardage regardless of the success then running game was having. One of the most frustrating coaches to watch at times. But huge improvementfor chiefs .

one thing you have to understand is that 70 to 80 percent of the fan base only knows ANDY REID EAGLES. 14 years is a long time. The current 30 year old Eagles fan was 16 when Andy was hired in Philly. That is a LONG time. Majority of their current fanbase jumped on board in the 2000 decade when they were winning. Most of their younger base dont know or experience the Eagles prior to Andy Reid or their losing culture prior to Andy.

They didnt have to endure what a Chiefs fan has, with consistent losing seasons, coaching, staff, FO changes, etc. This year was the first year in like 14 years the Eagles had a true blue LOSING season. Nobody counts that down year with Mike McMahon or whatever that bozos name was. This year was a real stinker for them, and for most Eagles fans, that was a first experience for them.

These are awesome stats and I appreciate you looking them up... However, do those stats reflect RB carries only or do they also incorporate QB scrambles?

If its the latter of the two, those stats might be a shade skewed.

TIA...

That's the general attitude here in the Mid-Atlantic States. Only a few people noticed and most of them made fun of the Chiefs fans for doing it.
