Near disaster at my house

So, yesterday my neighbor who is a complete drunk, decides to burn some brush in a pasture of tall grass when we haven't had any moisture in weeks, and with a 25 mph wind blowing toward my property. He comes by around noon to tell us he will be burning. Bout 4PM, I take my kid rabbit hunting on the backside of my place. I get a phone call from doucheneighbor telling me and and my other neighbor that he as a "little problem" with the fire and may need help. We head that way, but 10 minutes later he calls to say it is under control. He sounds completely shitfaced on the phone. Soooo, last night, bout 10:30, the wife lets the dog out, sees a glow, and smells smoke. She wakes me up, I throw on some jeans and boots and walk to the fence line. HOLY CRAP!!! About 3 acres of his field, my fnece line brush, and the start of the woods to the west are ablaze. I jam home, call the fire dept, and watch the wind blow the fire towards my house and woods for the next 7 minutes till they show up. Anyhoooo, I'm tired as shit today. Got to bed about 1:30 after I had to go back out and check on it per the fire dept. Dont be a doucheneighbor!

I thought about that at the time. The fire would probably not mess with the house too much unless it was a ragin inferno. This was more of a ground type fire about two feet high and blowing. But yes, it did cross my mind. I actually tried to pee on the first spot I came to until I looked over the hill

that tree was a Bur oak. 211 years old. I saw one up at Platte Falls concervation area this past weekend that was 6.5 feet across at the base. Ours was about 5. This one must be 350 years old.

I need to burn a giant pile of wood in my backyard, but I'm paranoid about wind and dryness so I keep putting it off, waiting for perfect conditions. I guess that's a good thing.
