Mike Tomlin gets 3-yr extension from Steelers.

Just breaking now.

Is it me or do the Steelers feel like they are morphing to the Bears from the last 30 years?

You make it sound like it’s easy to keep up the consistency after numerous of pro bowlers.

Don’t think Chiefs will be the same when Mahomes leaves?

Look at Patriots and Indy, once you lose your best players it’s downhill. He’s a great coach in my opinion. He deserves it.
You completely missed the point, no surprise though.

They've been stuck in mediocrity, and will now likely stay there. If you'll settle for mediocrity, then sure, he's a "good" coach.

So, he’s suppose to tank for a top QB?

At least he took a shot with Pickett and didn’t just settle for a hand me down QB like we did for years. There was a time this board wanted Geno Smith, Ryan Tannehill and Johnny Manuel.

I think Wilson will be better with Tomlin than Payton.

No, he's not supposed to do anything.

The Steelers are supposed to decide not to settle for mediocrity. They would be much better off blowing it all up and starting over, but fans like you are exactly why they'll settle for mediocrity instead.

And saying he "took a shot" with Pickett is a very nice way of saying they drafted a 1st round bust at QB, which typically gets you fired.

Tomlin has been covering for the front office QB failures for years. It’s the GM that’s at fault not Tomlin.

The fact that Tomlin never had a losing season with Mason Rudolph, Delvin Hodges, Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky shows how good of a coach he is.

Oh did Tomlin not want Pickett? I'm sure he had zero say in the pick, or in any of their personnel decisions. It's not like guys that coach a team for more than a decade get more say in personnel or anything.

Bullshit ****ing excuse.

They're going nowhere fast. Do you honestly see the Steelers even sniffing a SB in the next 3 years? No? Then if the problem is QB more than Tomlin, you'd STILL be better off blowing it up, signing a young offensive mind like Johnson or Slowik, and getting a legit QB prospect.

You know what would help in finding a franchise QB?

Not having a defensive minded HC that can't develop or evaluate QBs to save his life.

Andy Reid was 1-6 in the playoffs from 2008-2017 with poor QB play from washed McNabb, Vick and Alex. Only playoff win was over Brian Hoyer ()

Ask Philly how they feel about firing Andy.

Again QB matters so much and I think the Steelers front office fell on love with Pickett.

Why did that change Run?

Because Andy is a ****ing QB guru and he eventually found his guy. He didn't just luck into Mahomes like Tomlin would need to do.

What reason do we have to believe that Tomlin will ever do the same?

Mike Tomlin ain't ****ing Andy Reid, dipshit.

Jeff Fisher with a better publicist.

The guy's mediocre as hell. Not a bad coach - just not a particularly good one. And in a league with plenty of bad coaches, merely mediocre has value.

So fine - go ahead and extend him. There are coinflip odds that if you fire him, you'll end up with someone worse.

But you're not gonna win anything meaningful with him.

GM should have been fired for taking Kenny Pickett in the 1st. Everyone knew he was a bust waiting to happen. Small hands, thin frame, mediocre arm, never looked good until his 5th year in college. He was a massive reach and I think they reached bc he was a local kid.

I don’t understand why they didn’t take Levis tbh. He was the type of QB to take a shot on, not Pickett.

Again, why do you continue to pretend that Tomlin had zero say in the pick? The guy has been there for a very long time and certinaly has a lot of say in personel. He either had say, and got it wrong too, or he's completely useless in the process.

What's the best path to finding a QB? Continuing what they've been doing, or blowing it up and starting over with an offensive minded QB that can find their franchise QB?
