Using Dragon Incantations and a bunch of buffs/talismans.

It's pretty insane how high you can get the damage multipliers.

Dragon Communion Seal in each hand for 10% each

Roar Talisman for 10%
Flocks Canvas Talisman for 8%
Magic/Fire Scorpion Talisman for 12%

Golden Vow for 15%
Howl of Shabiri for 25%

Magic/Fire Shrouding Tear for 20% and Hidden Cerulean Tear for infinite FP for 15 seconds

If you can proc bleed, White Mask and Lord of Blood Exultation for 10% and 20%

Just drop a cheap summon to draw aggro, hit your 3 buffs, and let the breath attack rip.

Yep, first real wall of the DLC for me as well. You really have to be aggressive, especially in phase 2.

Don't know what Miyazaki was on about saying the optional content bosses of the DLC would be much harder than the mandatory bosses. Bayle, Midra, and Metyr combined took me less than 10 attempts. Messmer was well over 20+ attempts and I've lost track of how many times the final boss has wrecked my shit.

Finally beat the final boss. What an awful fight. If that's their new idea of 'difficulty' I'll probably refrain from SoulsBorne in the future.

Messmer was incredibly tough but fair. Radahn/Miquella is all the wrong things they learned about difficulty crammed into one fight. Deceptive hit boxes. Deliberately punishing good reads. AOE spam. Unreadable attacks because of visual effects. Just an all around gross experience.
