​A 28-year-old Lake Charles-area woman faces a bevy of charges after Louisiana police said she repeatedly had sex with a 13-year-old boy who she met at the Bible camp where she was a teacher/aide.

According to the Sulphur Daily News, Heather Daughdrill initiated the relationship in June and it continued until a complaint was filed in October. After her arrest on November 29, police told the paper that Daughdrill would pick her victim up from school without his parents' knowledge and subject him to sexual encounters. Louisiana cops also reportedly found sexually explicit texts between Daughdrill and her victim.

Look, you're either of legal age, and able to give legal consent to sex, and therefore in the eyes of the law not needing the type of protection we give minors, or you're not.

In the case in Conn. she was only a student teacher, who at one time was, but was no longer his teacher. She will walk from this (insert good lawyer she can't afford) with a misdemeanor, be registered (RSO), get probation, and public service. Including her firing from the school coaching job, for cause, on her employment record. Oh yes, probably blackballed in Conn from teaching, just because.

IF anyone Janitor, cafeteria worker, or outside vendor, in a school, authoritarian position or not, is going to have to live with it. In a school
setting, where 95% are under 18 activity such as this cannot be allowed. It should be a crime yet degree of the charges brought is questionable. She should be charged with nothing more severe than a DUI, the loss of teaching certificate (nationwide?), sex registry but not a FELONY.

You don't get to, nor do you want to, be dealing with consensual sex in a high school when minors are in the equation. The issue here is that this is a "State" issue and not a "federal" law, so it's different in every state. If you were to run for public office would this be on your agenda?

Because of the precedent it sets... They will not drop criminality when it it comes sex in high schools, just won't happen. Next your're going to justify a preist ****ing an 18YO, no less a 16YO in AL???

That same 18 year old's nurse, not school nurse, priest (not in a church with a school), boss at work. (Who gets fired and possibly sued) etc. etc could **** them silly, but if his/her TEACHER does it, throw away the key? What kind of logic does that make? Toss the key? NO Make it easily accessible for future employees to access it (such as a felony is), YES. It does not need to be a felony but needs to be traceable as a crime, a second offense should be a felony, if somehow given the opportunity again

The teacher should be FIRED. That's it. Jail? That's ridiculous.

Like the other person, who is a long term teacher, I was married to a teacher, have 3 teachers in the family (2 in high schools) who would love to see you come in front of a school board and even suggest this. Mandatory graduation at 18?

No, the law needs to be adapted but it's understood, you don't even make a joke about being attracted to a student (I'd love to squeeze those melons) or you're defending your teaching certificate. Find me a teachers union who is going to support decriminalizing any sex act with any student. Defending a teacher for remarks yes, Sex with a student...NO.

So what is the schools liability with the Conn teacher? Can the student say he was taken advantage of and sue the school and the state? You bet he can, like I said, he will have a free ride to UCONN...

I know of a couple of instances of this happening and the professor was immediately removed and was not able to get another teaching position. This was put on their record and passed along to all those that inquired.

At that point-we teachers are in a point of trust. We break that trust when these things happen. If it is continued, or allowed by a court case. There are some assholes out there that will expect it. Even at 18 and in school-they should be off limits. Ethics takes over.

College teacher and student. NO.**** If a teacher comes on to my kid in college-firing will be the last thing they have to worry about. If your kid goes after the, father figure (assumption), wise professor, you will spend your days taking if up the ass from Bruno. Criminal law says it's fine, State funded schools should certainly make it a fireable offense, as should all.

The human brain and its ability to make good decisions may not be fully developed by age 25. For some we see it takes longer.

A New Smyrna Beach Middle School teacher was arrested Wednesday on allegations she carried on a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student and sent him nude photos of herself.

Volusia County sheriff’s detectives arrested 26-year-old Stephanie Peterson Ferri, also known as Stephanie Ferri, Wednesday morning on two counts of lewd or lascivious battery and one count of transmission of harmful materials to a minor. She resigned from the school Monday.

The relationship is suspected of starting in November 2017, sheriff’s spokesman Andrew Gant said.

The student, who is in the eighth grade, told detectives Peterson would send him nude photos, Gant said. He also told detectives that Peterson started coming to his home at night, picking him up around 11 p.m. on several occasions and bringing him back around 1 or 2 a.m., deputies said.

The boy also reported that Peterson told him they couldn’t tell anyone about their relationship or they’d get in trouble, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He also said she bought him marijuana and bowls for smoking it and his grades suffered after their relationship started, Gant said.
