The fate of Chris Jones 2023 edition

Appears the Chiefs and Chris Jones are at the beginning of a contract dispute

Speculation has been that the two sides are "far apart" on a deal

So Chiefs Planet.... how do we think this will play out (poll coming)

Will the Chiefs pay up and meet Chris Jones demands? If so, how much will it end up costing?

Will the Chiefs not be able to meet Chris Jones demands and end up trading him? If so, what kind of haul can we expect?

I've really loved watching Chris Jones wreck shit for the Chiefs, it always sucks when the business side of the NFL forces teams into tough decisions.

They've got $ available, but they have to keep it open based on him showing up or not. So they can't go spend it.

This is a big ****ed situation. Blown up offseason in the middle of Mahomes prime and one of Kelce's last years.

****ed.

Pretty good chance they thought Jeffrey Simmons, Quinnen Williams territory was what they were looking at because of Jones age 3rd contract etc.

Him coming to them with completely unexpected demands when he knew he had the time at the worst possible time was on purpose. You can't say "well the Chiefs shoulda done this"

When NO ONE thought he was gonna ask for Donald money and he magically didn't do that until after FA and the draft...it was purposeful and it makes Jones the one who created this issue.

He basically is trying to strongarm the Chiefs into doing what he wants by putting them in a corner. Lets make outlandish demands when they can't move me..lets say I only want to be a Chief and how I love it in KC..then lets not report and try to screw the team.

Dudes being a selfish ass about the entire thing.

The guy appears content setting $20 million on fire and refusing to play while he's under contract (when accounting for the damage done to his tag figure).

You think there's a chance in hell he's signing the franchise tender? Of course not. And that's probably why the other $10 million in impact on his franchise figure next year isn't included in his calculus. He has ZERO intention of signing that tender.

He's done here. He'll play out the season, probably half-assed and eventually hurt, then he'll get moved. Because he's taken steps at this point to ensure that coming back at $25 million or so is non-tenable for him. And the Chiefs have drawn their line in the sand.

I think this saga is mostly over at this point. Now it's all over but the crying.

Has any Chief hurt their reputation with the fans more while being on the team, alive, and still being good at football?

And it is 100% on purpose because Jones knows he's screwing with a team trying to go back to back, it's a strongarm tactic to "get mine"

But after he misses a game check that money goes to us correct? If so then if he shows up he is only due what games are left.
