I'd like in this thread to post some videos and such since in a lot of threads there are questions about how good a guy is and what he can do so twitter and youtube of course are great for vids.

Even though I've pined for Willie Gay quite a bit there are numerous other guys I'd be fine with using our pick on because well they'd be fine fits.

So I'll start with some Willie Gay video since I've been asked a few times what he's good at...

I think Cesar Ruiz is a very safe pick as well. If Queen isn't available at 32, you take Ruiz. Guy has size, durability and intelligence. And of course he fits our most dire need which is the center position.

One of the things I like about Ruiz is he’s only 20 years old. He’s already really ****ing good.

Look around the league - the Ravens, Saints, 49ers and other Super Bowl contenders have strong running games with elite or near elite running backs.

although I share your concerns about the RB position, this is just where we need to take some risk.

Mahomes $40+ million starts next season. We need to start choosing where to knowingly be less than optimal because of Mahomes pay. We can’t keep everyone. We can’t be strong at every position. This is our fan life from now on. And it’s a good fan life. Every team in the NFL would take Mahomes and his $40 million in a heartbeat.

agreed. If we can get out of the 1st,keep the 62nd and pick up another 2nd to spend on a corner, coverage LB and then spend the additional 3rd/4th rounder we pick up on some interior line help.

I’m thinking this needs to be as unsexy as draft as possible. Get workman starters that can contribute.

Depends on how you define the term "impact"(at this point of the team's maturation) i.e. to what player you take. Does Mahomes have even "more impact" because he now has true protection up the middle because we took Ruiz allowing him to make more downfield plays because he has time?

Or will Pat have "more impact" because he has another Hardman like WR or elite RB in his stable but still subconsciously worried about the pressure up the middle against good defenses while running for his life?

IF our o-line had better depth and interior line were fine no doubt you take an offensive ball skill player BUT I say at this point of the team's maturation cycle and how many hits Pat took last year you definitely need to protect your franchise player no matter the cost IF that player is there at 32.

No Pat No SB PERIOD IMHO.

Ruiz is ranked by most experts as the top Center in this draft. He is predicted to go early in the second round so if we don't use our first on him, he won't be available late in the 2nd. We have a huge hole at the center position.
