Do we want DeHop?
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl...9536dcd3&ei=21
Story by Andrew Gould The Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl without a star wide receiver, but they could reportedly make an elite offense even scarier by acquiring DeAndre Hopkins. NFL insider Benjamin Albright told PHNX Cardinals that Kansas City is the "primary suitor" for Hopkins. He doesn't know the draft compensation the Cardinals would receive, but he said it's more likely they get a second-round pick than a first. After the 2022 season, theScore's Jordan Schultz reported that the Cardinals plan to trade Hopkins this offseason. Arizona hired a new general manager and head coach after a disappointing four-win season, and Hopkins is set to make $19.45 million (with a $30.75 million cap hit) in 2023. The Cardinals could seek a clean slate by moving the three-time All-Pro wideout, who turns 31 in June. Hopkins began his Cardinals career by tallying 1,407 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. However, multiple lower body injuries limited him to 10 games in 2021, and he served a six-game suspension to start the 2022 season for violating the NFL's PED policy. Yet he remains an impact player when on the field. Hopkins totaled 474 receiving yards in six full games with quarterback Kyler Murray last season. Now imagine what he can accomplish when catching passes from Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs flourished without a star replacement for Tyreek Hill, but they could still benefit by solidifying the position this offseason. JuJu Smith-Schuster is a free agent after garnering 78 catches for 933 yards on a one-year deal. The depth chart features several talented question marks in Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Adding Hopkins could be great news for Kansas City, but terrible for all opposing defenses. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do we want a high priced prima donna? |

Flip the question on its head: If TE and WR are the same thing, then why didn't Travis teach Skyy how to be a better WR? Why didn't Skyy run better routes and get open more, get to his landmarks on time, etc.? Why didn't Travis teach JuJu how to beat man/press man more efficiently? Why didn't he mentor MVS to be better at his releases, running his stems, tracking the ball, and so on? For that matter, why didn't he train Hardman/Pringle/DRob/JWat/Conley/every Chiefs WR except Tyreek to be better WRs? I mean, it's all the same thing, right? No difference between TE/WR so what's the story? Travis a terrible teacher? Travis is a dumbshit? Travis hated all those guys? Or, and I'm going waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out on a limb here, the positions are sufficiently different that Travis can't teach them a lot of things about how to be a WR.

There will be 3 new WR before week 1. I’d guess 1 we draft, 1 we sign (whether OBJ or not) and 1 we trade for (if not Hopkins, someone else)

Do you believe the organization when they say that Taylor is our LT? If so then you should believe the organization when they say that Toney is our WR #1.

Some of this is gamesmanship, do you think they're just gonna openly say, man we gotta draft a WR.

. . . and/or "we have to sign a FA WR." Probably a bad idea to tip your hand in that respect as well.

Believing that Toney can be a WR1 isn't the same as relying upon him to be a WR1 given his tremendous inconsistency and injury history. |

And I've been watching highlight vids for a little over a week now. There's not much to watch on O lineman but this isn't exactly a spectacular crop of them to begin with. I tend to pick a favorite couple of guys to cheer for and then welcome the inevitable disappointment when we never draft them. I don't watch college football anymore (at least not the last 3 years) so I won't act like I'm an expert. But I do have favorites. I'm quickly starting to think I do want a HB or TE in round 1. Looking at how the board is likely to fall and team needs it's likely the best long term strategy to keep the offense clicking. If we're talking about BAA it's very possible that athlete is a HB. If Robinson is that guy who happens to be there he's able to block a little, good size, good balance and lateral movement, and a respectable pass catcher. He's better built to carry the load than Pacheco and I wouldn't worry he got ****ing broken every time there's a solid tackle. I know this is about as popular an opinion as douche flavored bubble gum but it's cost controlled productivity for 5 years. We can use the catch and release strat that many teams use with HB's because honestly we're not going to be able to keep most studs beyond their rookie deals anyway.

What routes can Travis Kelce not run? That's ridiculous. The guy can run every route in the route tree. He was plenty quick enough to succeed at all of the routes. Idk that he didn't try and teach those guys. You don't either. The more likely scenario is that you picked a bunch of guys that just aren't very good and nobody was gonna unlock any potential, because they're as good as they're gonna get. It's not like they left and became good all of the sudden. Hardman is the only relatively high draft pick that you listed. Pringle - UDFA DRop - 4th rounder Justin Watson came from somewhere else that was loaded at WR and he was a 5th rounder Chris Conley - 3rd rounder Tyreek Hill can do everything and so you'd think they'd learn from him. Who the **** has Hopkins "developed"? |

Think about it. And I didn't cherry pick those guys; those are the freaking WRs who were on the team and saw playing time for 4 years. But really what happened here is that you couldn't think of the answer to my question, so you went with your standard reply, which is to try and obfuscate the issue by trying to cast derision on my question. Problem is you effed up by saying that Travis can run every route that a WR can. When there's multiple routes Travis never runs, for plainly obvious reasons. Reasons that any semi-intelligent observer can figure out watching any single Chiefs game. Really you could've just said "I don't know," and saved yourself the embarrassment. But you do you, bud.
