With Mark's recent tweets, I wonder if JJ called Hamill and said "9 is where we make things right".
I love TLJ, in fact, I think it's going to grow on the fanbase similar to ESB did after ROTJ (it's not ESB, but still, it's daring). Unfortunately, I think the ultimate outcome of this film is that JJ and Kasden are going to put out an unoriginal and safe story to "right the ship" in 9 - and that's unfortunate. 7 was so unoriginal you may as well call it "Into Darkness' or, uh, A New Hope Awakens. I think 9 is going to follow suit. |

Everyone I know is out of the office for the holidays, so I have no idea how it was received. My gut tells me that Iger will be far more involved with Episode IX, especially considering the disappointing reactions and box office for VIII. I'll still be shocked if Rian's trilogy is a go, after all the carnage. Maybe an episode but a trilogy? I think that's a long shot. |

Out of curiosity, which film do you prefer, Dane? TFA or TLJ? You seemed pretty turned off by both. |

I've seen TFA a dozen times but it's still difficult for me to get through. TLJ had so much ridiculousness (the "Slow Space Chase", Snoke's easy death, Leia floating in space, Canto Bight, which missed on the obvious, and Luke running away) that I'll need to see it a few more times once it's available on VUDU next year in order to make a decision. For the record, I can watch Rogue One any time of the day or night, even a year after release. |

Would love to know why they didn't give Gareth Edwards a trilogy. |

I like TFA okay, but I haven't seen it since it was in theaters. I own it, but I always end up watching A New Hope instead. So many of the "big" moments in TFA feel like listless shadows of its superior inspiration, but they lack the context that made A New Hope stand the test of time. Moments like a droid carrying secret plans to the rebels/resistance, blowing up the Death Star, and Luke/Rey mastering the force just didn't have near the impact that they did in the original. It's possible I'll sour on TLJ, but I at least was on the edge of my seat and couldn't anticipate where it was going next - and I want to see it again, which isn't something I could ever really say about TFA. Rogue One definitely has both beat, though. I'm hoping Ron Howard comes through in a similar way next year. |

We can all agree Rogue One kicks wholesale ass. I said after seeing it that this movie justified the sale to Disney and showed the potential of Star Wars in its hands. Rumor is that Gareth couldn't quite crack the 3rd act, though, and they had to bring Tony Gilroy in to stick the landing. It's possible they’re gunshy on giving more work to Gareth for that reason. Tony Gilroy was brought in to script the final act while Gareth was directing the VFX team, as they had a short window. When it was all said and done, Gareth received full Director's Credit by the DGA. |

Was the speculation that R1 was 40% reshot similar to the speculation about Solo - garbage? |

Gareth obviously worked. Solo was a Page 1 re-shoot. The only scenes that I know of that were kept were Thandie Newton's Mo-Cap sessions, which may not even make the final cut. |

JJ IS COMPLETE, UNORIGINAL SHITE COMPARED TO JOHNSON, and that's not even ****ing debatable. You REALLY need to pull your head from your ass on this one. It's worse, WAY worse than your politics by a country mile, and that's truly saying something.

That said, everyone knows his opinion of this movie, as he's stated it ad nauseam. Enough. |
