*****The Patrick Mahomes Thread*****

IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Lol you have to love how Mahomes comes back down double digits to win by double digits 3 games in a row and it’s all because of stupid coaches!

Kelly's and Marino's college stats aren't as sparkling as you may think, but they at least threw more TD passes than interceptions. I still, to this day, don't understand how a single scout or personnel guy looked at Blackledge and thought that guy could run and be successful in an NFL pro style offense.

I was 12 when he was drafted, and I remember how upset I was, because I didn't know as much about football then as I do now, but I knew that I had watched a handful of Penn State games and thought their QB absolutely sucked. I could see the suckage at 12, but my favorite team couldn't.

I was never an Alex Smith fan, but that loss is absolutely 100% on Andy Reid. It may be the greatest game Alex Smith ever played, and Reid just couldn't run clock with a 28 point second half lead.

Who cares what RB was left after injuries. With a 28 point second half lead, you play the clock. And it's not like Indy scored 29 points on 1 play, Reid watched them score TD after TD and still did not adjust the play calling.

Blaming Smith for that loss is just ridiculous.

This is a great example of why one shouldn't post after an emotional loss

For reference, Pat had some offensive talent around him on the 2015 and 2016 Texas Tech football rosters. There’s about dozen NFL players who played meaningful snaps with him, many of which are still in the league but no other stars. Pat obviously made everyone better and is one reason some of these guys got shots at the NFL, but there was definitely a good supporting cast around him on that side of the ball. While us Red Raiders all love(d) Kliff Kingsbury, it’s easy to understand our frustration that he couldn’t win more games with the talent below. The problem was always the defense, which was historically bad. Historically. Butter vs. knife.

2015 or 2016 Texas Tech offensive players who made the NFL:
QB - Patrick Mahomes (drafted - still in)
QB - Davis Webb (drafted - out of league)
RB - DeAndre Washington (drafted - still in)
RB - Justin Stockton (UDFA - in XFL)
WR - Jakeem Grant (drafted - still in)
WR - Keke Coutee (drafted - still in)
WR - Dylan Cantrell (drafted - IR)
WR - Derrick Willies (UDFA - still in)
WR - Cameron Batson (UDFA - IR)
WR - Tony Brown (attending combine this year, played with Pat as a freshman then transferred to CU)
LT - LeRaven Clark (drafted - still in)

That's where we are with Mahomes. It's idiotic to say pump the brakes at this point.
