I told my buddy yesterday, it doesn't look exactly the same but the impact he's having is no different than Rice last year was doing for us. It might be more actually because of how threatening the speed is.

He looks really good.

Hoping he can escape the shoe string tackles more and more as his career goes on. I’d love to add some explosion back into our offense.

He's always one broken tackle away. I don't know if that's a strength thing or he needs to explode through the holes faster, but he's literally inches away from breaking off a long TD run.

Rice was better at YAC because of his physicality. Worthy is easier to bring down despite the speed advantage. Defenders are taking him down by his ankles.

Worthy has more help around him now than Rice last year. Rice was the only competent WR, whereas now there's Hopkins and Brown to take the pressure off. We should see continued success if all three stay healthy.

I don't really see him beating coverage like Rice beat coverage but the coaches are now utilizing him in a way we can use his speed on more than just deep routes.

Yeah I agree. Rice was at.a different level with less of a supporting cast. Keep Holywood next year though and it's a pretty exciting triumvirate. Would love to get Brown back on a similar deal but it already feels a fantasy.

I'd like to hear Worthy's explanation of the gesture he made? Was he really showing his make-believe gun or was there another meaning?

Very similar stats to Tyreek Hills rookie year.

Although Tyreek probably had more touches because of punt and kicking returns.

I'd say they're opposites in that Worthy is destroying man coverage lately, while Rice last year was killing zone.

Rice only started beating man at intermediate to deep levels really to start this season. They just weren't using him like that in 2023.

Makes you dream about what they could be with both guys out there with more than a year in the system. Worthy ran that out-up-comeback double move route against the Texans that Tyreek made famous and he beat Stingley bad doing it. Mahomes just didn't get it out to him on time and that's something they'll have down by 2025.

Through 16 games of Worthy's rookie year his stat line reads...

52 receptions
788 yards
6 TD's

Wait... that's actually Torry Holt in 99. Not saying they're the same kind of player but it's pretty amazing what he's done considering the multitude of plays left on the field. There are many.

Yep, Rice in his rookie year was a big slot zone buster. He was doing more this year, but alas the injury. Worthy and Brown are here to beat the man coverage teams have been playing against the Chiefs these past two seasons.

Man I really hope Rice comes back at the level he was reaching before injury, and we find a way to bring Holywood back. If Hopkins made it back that quartet is about as good as it gets.
