I guess Broncos fans like to think that Miller and Chubb will be an absolute terror starting this year but Myles Garrett and Jadeveon Clowney, superior prospects to Chubb, are good examples showing that those elite passrushers sometimes take some time before becoming great.

And then Von Miller at 29 years old is getting older, it is not out of question that by the time that Chubb is elite, if he even ever become such, Miller will have slowed down.

Anyways, as long as the Broncos don't find a top QB they will likely always be second to the Chiefs.

There have been a handful of guys who had 10+ sacks their rookie year, but year two is when a lot of these rushers start putting up numbers. Watt, Von, Aldon Smith, JPP, Mack, Derrick Thomas, and Vic Beasley all had 15+ sacks in their second season.

If Chubb is just solid his rookie year at least we'll have Shaq and Shane in their contract year. Justin Houston and DeMarcus Lawrence exploded in their contract years, hopefully Shaq or Shane can as well.

We'd use the term 'bright' around the Broncos today in the same way you'd use it to describe your LT as bright.

All of the second level defenders are like, "there's no WAY he's going to try and make that thr-...oh shit"...

"Lil Tomby's" defense got hella-scorched on that play.

Lol

If Shane Ray and/or Shaq Barrett blow up in their contract year, the Chubb pick was a wasted pick.

Could have traded down and gotten Derwin James and an elite corner and quality OG.

Or Josh Rosen.

Chubb is going to force good players to stay on the sideline.

The Chubb pick won’t pay dividends unless he is an elite pass rusher and run defender...he has to be significantly better than Barrett and Ray.

It’s basically trading Shaq, Shane and the fifth overall pick for Chubb.

The Broncos selected 10 players, but the topic overshadowing all others for Denver was the team's ability to land the No. 1 pass-rusher in the draft without maneuvering from the No. 5 overall slot.

"Look at how hard it can be to find pass-rushers," one exec said. "Tampa Bay just gave a third-rounder for a 29-year-old JPP [Jason Pierre-Paul] and was willing to pay his contract. Denver has three legit starting rushers plus Shaq Barrett, who every team in the league would love to have as part of their four-man rotation. And the great thing about Chubb is he can slide inside to defensive tackle like Michael Bennett on third down, giving you flexibility."

Of course, if quarterback Case Keenum bombs in Denver while Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, Lamar Jackson or even Mason Rudolph flourishes, this draft and the entire Broncos offseason will be remembered for more than Chubb.

"I love seeing [John] Elway basically say, 'F--- trying to beat the odds and pick the one out of 10 quarterbacks that is going to be over .500 four years from now,'" an exec said. "The bigger part of that is they did not pay $84 million for the guy that is under .500 [Kirk Cousins]. The final part is I'd like to see them switch the defense to a 4-3 because you just got a 4-3 rusher [Chubb] who I think is as good as [Joey] Bosa."

If they blew up, I wouldn't want Denver to pay them what they'd get as a free agent. Olivier Vernon has 1 season with double digit sacks and he makes $2M less per year than Von Miller. Give me Chubb at $5M per year all day over the ridiculous contracts that UFA's get.

If one of them has a big year, Denver will have the cap space next year to tag and trade.
