This is the trust I used. I probably should have just used the local lawyer in town since he works directly with the dealer, but the web way worked fine.

Had a mother ****er break into our apartment complex last night. Luckily didnt take anyone's shit but cops never showed up so the stimulus check will be used on home defense.

I have one of these (870 Tactical) and I would highly recommend it for home defense. You really want a short barrel - in a stressful situation, the shorter the barrel, the better. Also, don't forget to buy some .00 buck shot.

See now here I have to shoot them in my house and hope they don’t fall out the window. Call the cops and when they come tell them to talk to my lawyer. After that I’ll just hope I don’t spend 5 years in jail

That old idea of "If they fall back out of the door, pull them back in" really was forgotten long ago. If you were to shoot the bad guy and he fell out of a window - the Police would easily determine that he broke the glass on the way out. You wouldn't have any trouble. Of course, some of these states today "might" charge you with Involuntary manslaughter - you know those "you shouldn't be allowed to own a firearm" states.

You don’t want 00 buck for home defense, they will blow through walls and will **** up whatever they hit on the other side. You want #4 buckshot, if you are going to use a shotgun for home defense. Especially if it’s in an apartment complex, you blow through walls and into a neighbor apartment. The legal consequences that you could face would be worse than the robbery. |

Living in an apartment presents other problems. 00 buck will go right through several sheets of plywood/sheetrock, so if you have neighbors living on the other side of any of your walls, 00 buck is probably going to easily penetrate through with enough velocity to kill anyone on the other side. I'd personally choose no. 4 buck, which will still kill a man with a head shot/upper torso shot, or at least be an effective man-stopper, but probably won't penetrate two sheets of plywood with enough velocity to kill someone unless the pellets hit you in the eye or throat. Another tactic is to load the first two rounds with 00 buck and the rest with a smaller gauge, such as no.4, that way your first couple rounds are no.4, when the intruder is probably farther away, and the last couple are 00 buck for when they're closer, and the issue of missing is reduced. Of course, this supposes that you can readily perform the running ritual described above. |
