Favorite Cologne

I'm always on the lookout for a great smelling cologne. I have tried many, from classics such as Polo and Obsession and Fahrenheit, all of which I liked. As I got older in my early 20's, I like stuff like Polo Sport, Tommy Hilfiger Athletic, and Hugo Boss. Lately, the last 10 years or so, I have switched and I really like Issey Miyake, and Jean Paul Gautier. My question is, what are your favorite colognes, ones that make the ladies heads turn in your direction. Success stories are also nice, ones in which your cologne of choice landed you a prime piece. Trying to find some new colognes, change my game up a bit.

Aight. Brut is an exception. That smells very manly. You can only appreciate it as you get older.

Yeah I don't think most men wear cologne so they just smell good. Ain't wearing it heading out with the crew to do work. We wear it so we smell good for the women. It's a great way to get some hugs from the girls.

Cologne is not for you idiot. It is what women like. Women sniffed me and said I smelt great many times in life. Egoiste Platinum so many times.

You wouldn't know because you smell like a ass burrito.

Dear numbnut,

As a former cologne wearer, I know how it feels to have cologne layered on your skin. Matter of fact, I was a fan of YSL L'Homme which I used for a long while. Fine smelling.

But again, I came to my senses and figured it was a feminine thing to do and I didn't need it. You can stay your feminine impressing self. No hating on my part.

It goes beyond that, though. I can't drink lite beer or white wine. And I don't put ice on my bourbon. That shit aint for me.

I also don't wear cologne anymore - mainly because I've been married for nearly 24 years and have lived with my wife for nearly 28 years, and over the years my wife for some reason has almost completely lost her sense of smell. That can be dangerous - once she accidently hit one of the burner knobs on the stove and unknowingly turned the gas on, and later I walked in to an overpowering gas stench and her sitting on the couch smoking a cigarette. Probably both came close to getting blown to bits that day, but I digress. The benefit is she can't smell cologne, so there's little point in me wearing it. Plus, I'm old, fat and bald, and it's not like I'm going to impress anybody no matter what sort of exotic scent I'm wearing. So I just stick with aftershave, after I shave, and wear something that I like, mainly Clubman Pinaud, which has a nice, clean, old time barbershop smell. Yeah, yeah, get off my lawn.

With that regimen, closet woodshed gay is about the best you can hope for because no woman is going to want to smell that rank ass.

You'd at least gain points by rubbing yourself down with some cedar brush and firing up the Stihl for 5 minutes before heading out.

I've got a Drakkar Noir horror story. I had a bottle of it that I hadn't used in years sitting on a shelf in my medicine cabinet. One day it fell into the sink and broke. All the alcohol had evaporated, leaving only the oily base which leaked into the basin. Suddenly my entire bathroom and most of the entire floor stank like a room full of sweaty 80s lounge lizards. Nearly made me puke. Stained the white sink basin, and no amount of scrubbing would get it off. My bathroom stank of that shit for days. Eventually the smell, and much later the stain, faded away.

Just the thought of Drakkar now grosses me out. Yuck.
