Okay, here is a place for the Golfers to talk about tournaments, clubs, swing help or thoughts.

Today is the Players Championship, which I think ought to be the 5th Major. Largest pot in the PGA. The daunting 17th, which seems to bring excitement every year. At least we will get to see Sergio blow up yet again.

I am ready to see some water balls!

So you have a compact swing ? Do you have Short arms ?

If so, I heard a golf pro at a local course here tell a guy to line up his feet to what felt normal to him. Then pick each foot up, back away from that position 2 "so that it allows you to reach out for the ball getting a full swing down and through the ball.

I've never had this problem, it may be worth a try.

I've played golf since I was ten years old and I've worked with some good pros. I've never heard of these terms you mention. Granted I'm not involved in the game like I used to be but I've never heard of "float loading". Help me out with that so I understand what it is and what you're trying to do.

Is it hesitating at the top?

This is how I took it, exploding after his hesitation. If he has a compact swing with shorter arms than some golfers could be his problem with getting stuck on the inside of his swing. Maybe a little more distance between himself and the ball can free it up?

It's one of three ways to create lag. Basically, with a float load, you have a very wide backswing arc, and on the downswing, the arc shallows out as your wrists cock from the transition.

I have long arms, a very wide backswing arc, and stand farther away from the ball than normal. It's the exact opposite.

umm Maybe but you don't ever want to be reaching for the ball at address. If he is to close though the he could back away a little.

It almost sounds like a case of over swinging. Not swinging to hard but rather taking the club to far back and getting the club behind him. I mean how does the club get stuck behing you unless you put it there to start with? Or he could be laying it off a little. Or it could be as simple as taking the club back outside the line and the becuase it's outside the line going back it re-routes itself at the top droping inside and behind. That's not really a bad way to play but that's swingers move not a hitters.

It could be a case of overswinging, but I'm definitely not laid off at the top. I'm significantly across the line. And I do take it back slightly outside and re-route it on the downswing.

From my experience when one trys to do things like "float Load", and I'm still not clear on what that is, to achieve "lag" they're just complicating things.

Why are you wanting to create lag? Especially if you have long arms. That seems like it would cause the club to get stuck further behind.

More lag equals a higher swing speed, which in turn, creates more distance.

Nope. Upright swing, and I take really small divots. Hit the ball super high, like Mickelson high. That's one of the things that costs me distance, because the shot arc balloons rather than flattens out.

SS is about 102-105
