Trade whatever possible for a LT prospect

I don’t care. If there’s a LT in this draft that they feel can be a good quality LT, do it.

I don’t care if it would cost three 1st rd picks. Mahomes is not gonna be this athletic for much longer.

It needs to happen

I’m shocked so many draft experts had him as top 15 pick without injury if he played so few games.

People are misinformed...

He started as a Freshman at RT for San Diego State in 2022. After that year, he transferred to Ohio State. In 2023, he started at LT for Ohio State. He again started in 2024 until his injury. He doesn't have 6 starts; he has 31.

Saw a mock draft that had us trading up to Tampa Bay's spot just ahead of Denver and taking Omarion Hampton before they could snatch him up.

We would supposedly give Tampa our #31 pick, our #95 pick and a player....they did not say who that would be.

If we really traded up to that point, I would presume it would be for a tackle, not an RB. And the fact that we could get a good tackle and pick up a guy like Treveon Henderson later seems more intelligent to me.

IF it was an LT in round one, I think I'd go Conerly. Simmons is too big of a risk for my taste.

Yeah, but you are relying on a career backup to protect Mahomes...that may or may not work out. We just don't know. Simmons has played both RT and LT, so once Jawaan Taylor is booted after 2025, you could play him at that spot if Moore works out at LT.

Simmons just isn't an option. Medicals check out and he's probably out of range. The only way he falls far enough is if they don't and at that point, he's undraftable.

There is no question that we have some risk at LT, but that doesn't justify taking on even more risk by drafting Simmons. I'm all for drafting OT early, but Simmons is a HUGE risk. Imagine the situation the Chiefs would be in if the career backup isn't cutting it at LT and Simmons either can't play, or is also ineffective. That would be a disaster.

Many of you are way too black and white on this one. It's entirely possible that he's going to make a full recovery, but he falls to 31 due to the risk and the Chiefs feel comfortable taking it there.

There's just so much that goes into all this stuff and the talking in absolutes is just silly to me.

Yeah, but you also have to consider what you would potentially pass on to take that injury risk.

That’s the thing no one knows until the Chiefs are on the clock.

Of course, I'm just speaking to our inability to fully understand and know the situation.

I mean the entire NFL, including the Chiefs, let a very good prospect in Trey Smith fall all the way to late day 3 for something that has never been an issue. This stuff is tricky, and we just don't know what we don't know.

You make a good point, but there is a continuum here on the level of risk that Simmons presents. I don't know what the medicals look like and I don't know the probabilities of whether he will fully recover. However, the more likely it is that he will make a full recovery and be ready to play sooner rather than later, the less likely that he will fall to #31. The less likely it is that he makes a full recovery etc, the more likely it is that he falls to us at #31, but also a much greater risk for the Chiefs, or anyone else, to take him.

If Vereach takes Simmons I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best, but I just don't think the risk will be worth it if he does slip to #31.

It's not even about "full recovery". It's about: is he the same guy after. That's a real question.

I totally understand people personally not wanting to take the risk. I'm just saying that we have no clue where Simmons is at ourselves, and we also don't know how comfortable the Chiefs are or aren't. This idea that if he falls to 31 the Chiefs are 100% going to pass because he's obviously damaged goods is silly. That's all I'm saying.

This is not a good draft for tackles. We have only a handful of picks.

You wanna talk about binary thinking - the idea that we must draft a tackle, especially trading up, because it's a perceived need is the epitome.

Except I've never once advocated for that, more or less said we "must" draft a T, so I have no clue what point you're trying to make here.
