His contract is finally out.

2023 - Cap hit of $4.85 million. $1.08 million base salary.
2024 - Cap hit of $11.15 million. $6.74 million base salary.

Signing bonus is $7.5 million.

The Chiefs can get out of the contract if they want to after the first year. Cutting him in 2024 would only leave them with $3.75 million in dead cap. $2 million becomes guaranteed if he's on the roster on the 3rd day of the 2024 league year.

Awfully nice deal and gives the Chiefs a really good starting point/leverage for the possibility of extending him after year 1.

What may control it is how well he can do the inside/outside thing here. By all accounts he should be able to do what Karlaftis was doing as an inside rusher on passing downs but even better than Karlaftis did it.

So if, as I expect, the Chiefs use substantial draft capital (1st or 2nd) on an edge and that guy shows progress this year but the Chiefs envision Omenihue as a guy who even long-term complements Karlaftis and the new guy well as an interior rush specialist on passing downs, I could see them extending him for another couple years rather than have him play on that final season.

Been a really nice off-season so far. Odd to see so little movement at DT, especially with some rumored targets signing pretty cheap. Tomlinson getting 4/$57 kinda surprised me, admittedly. So maybe that was their play and they just got outbid? Now there's just not a ton left?

Eh - they'll make it work. Pluggers are cheap and the 2nd/3rd wave always has a bunch of 'em still available.

I was looking around at that this morning. You could throw a couple different options at that position for cheap. It's just not a highly valued spot.

The market just collapsed after Onyemata.

From there it became short-term deals (Cox/Rankins) and middle class contracts (Saunders/Tuttle/Tillery).

Taven Bryan would've been interesting, IMO. He's just always been steady but unspectacular.

I kinda feel like Chris Wormley would be my guy right now. He can do some of the inside/outside stuff that Spags likes. The ACL is just an awfully big question with him so he probably won't sign until the summer when teams can know a little more about his recovery. If you can have him at/near full speed by October, man he'd be a nice add and probably come fairly cheap.

Said this waaaay back so I'm claiming this bandwagon! Is Shelby Harris available too? Outside of that it's pretty damn thin. Wouldn't take much to match what we had there last year but damn, I dunno, there's not much left.

I like Omenihu but no, he is not to be mentioned in the same breath as Bosa or Warner. Those are possible HoF players. Omenihu is on his 3rd team at 25 years old after being a 3rd day pick.

Tap the brakes here, sport.
Geez. It's the offseason! That's when you are supposed to get unnaturally excited about what could be.

Believe me, whatever your right nut did to you -- it's not your fault.
