For me, my sleep apnea is caused by my jaw alignment, which is set back, and makes the little hole to breathe through very small naturally.
I had sleep apnea when I weighed 140 pounds. Unfortunately, now weighing more isn't helping. |

I listen to a short podcast everyday on the way to work. I remember this one from last year and it was interesting overall. He talks about jaw evolution over the past few five hundred years. Dude slept with a jaw widening device for a year. |

I have a good buddy who uses a mask when we go on guy trips. He's not overweight and doesn't drink every night (guy trips is a different lol).
I'm just curious about the root issue/cause. The jaw is formed by 25 and isn't easily adjusted afterwards which seems to be a cause of this issue. |

I’ve tried to debunk this so many times on here. Being overweight is the cause of sleep apnea in less than 20% of cases.

I wrestled in high school, I benched over 270 pounds, and had sleep apnea. I wrestled at 138 pounds. I was not overweight. Period. I had a six pack, could run a 5 minute mile, and could cowboy wrestle and roll for a couple of hours straight. Being overweight and out of shape had nothing, absolutely nothing to do with my sleep apnea. People talking about their experiences know more about their experiences than whatever you read on the internet. |

Being overweight can exacerbate sleep apnea but it is NOT the root cause with the exception being those morbidly obese where the throat and neck constrict the airway.

Yeah, it’s always fun when people just say shit that isn’t true and then stick with it.
I didn’t get treated for my sleep apnea until I was overweight (6-2/250) but I have had it my whole life. Mrs. Idaho was around when I was 22 and ran a sub-20 5K and in peak shape (6-2/195) and confirmed the incidents happened the , too. She was on me to do a sleep study for like 10 years). I had it when I had a Dad bod. I had it when i had a baseball player bod. I’ll have it when I’m an old man. It’s just how my body works. Or doesn’t, in this case. Like everything, losing weight can help with it… but doesn’t make it go away.

So I have the opposite problem some of y'all have. Mine doesn't bother me much at all, except for the fact when I'm using it my body refuses to wake up until I've had AT LEAST 6 hours bare minimum, and most of the time it's well over 7. I've slept through alarm clocks designed for deaf people that shake the bed. It's ****ing irritating just because I need to get up at 4am for work

Also, PSA, if you have one and haven't been using it, get back to it. Finally kicked myself enough to hop back to using it and feel so much better today than I have in a long while.

Anybody else here use the F20 mask? Insurance sends me way more supplies than necessary so I've got a pretty nice stockpile now.

I'm in the same boat. They text me 100 times to push the supplies.

They don't even text me. Just get a box each month with supplies that aren't even close to needing to be changed yet.
