Trade whatever possible for a LT prospect

I don’t care. If there’s a LT in this draft that they feel can be a good quality LT, do it.

I don’t care if it would cost three 1st rd picks. Mahomes is not gonna be this athletic for much longer.

It needs to happen

Good spot to trade up for our guy around 26.

Who, in your opinion, is 'our guy'? And why are they worth so much more than any number of other guys that it's worth losing a third to go get him? Because I don't see anyone in the back half of the first round that I'd give up a third to go get.

Well...

is he = Eric Fisher?

Because that's kind of the line for me. If he's not Fisher or can't be very quickly, I'm just not excited about going up to get him. Or any other OT prospect, for that matter. Now, if he drops to us, that's a different matter and it depends on who else is around.

But we haven't had a proper LT since Fisher ripped his achilles.

I think a healthy Simmons is, but a healthy Simmons isn't dropping to #31.

I think we could give up a pick swap and keep our picks.

Walter Nolen and Derrick Harmon seem like the most sure bets in this DT class to be blue chippers. Legitimate ass kickers that could win games.

IF (big if) the Chiefs feels Conerly is going to be an even decent starting tackle you trade up for him.

Doubt we’d have to, but if you told me Conley was gonna give us the stability Eric Fisher did but we needed to give up a 3rd? Yeah I’m doing it without blinking

My brain is telling me we'll absolutely have to trade up for Conerly if we want him. I think a pick swap with Minnesota isn't much to give up. If Veach feels we have to go higher, I wouldn't be opposed so long as it doesn't get too costly. I think 19 would be the next logical spot and that's probably #66 and a next year's 3rd.

Those guys are both really good 3 techs. The problem is, we have THE 3 tech with Jones. So how do you see KC using them? Move Jones outside? I don't think he's as good at DE as inside, and anyway, that means you take Karlaftis out.

So, while I think those are great prospects, I don't see them as improving the team as much as one of the guys that can play nose, like Grant or Williams. You can pair those guys WITH Jones on any/all downs and seriously improve your front 4.

Just my opinion.

and on Conerly, yes, I agree IF they think he's a Fisher level player, then you absolutely make that deal. I just don't think anyone can say that with any certainty. As I said, I don't dislike the player, and if he falls to our pick, I'd certainly consider it, depending on who else is on the board.

Both have high run stop grades too. I think they could play next to Jones. Then take over when he is done in two or three years.

I don’t think Conerly is worth trading up for. Just take Charles Grant or Anthony Benton or Ozzie Trapilo with our second or third pick. Or even Carson Vinson or Jack Nelson in the 4th round

They're both really good players against the run at 3 tech. 0 or 1 is a different thing. They might be able to DO it, but is that the best usage of their abilities? They're really perfect 3 techs. That's where they should be.

Just seems to me. But who knows what Spags would do? Might just move all of them around all over the place every down.

Anyway, should be some good players at #31.

It would be something if they traded up for a tackle in this draft. They have so many needs, trading up would just be dumb.

I think you could still get a lot of use out of another 3 tech pass rushing type. You can put them both on the field on pass rushing downs, you can rotate between them to keep Jones fresh and you can use them both on the field when Jones is at edge. That's probably an impactful number of snaps? Turk got like 700 snaps last year.

If Conerly gets close to our pick, I could see a trade up with maybe a flip of draft spots in the 3rd. You can't be sure that a team at the top of the second might try and jump in front of us if they like Conerly and know he won't get past us.

Why. Veach has typically done his best work being aggressive and moving up for players, not falling back and letting the board come to him.

Also, folks are sleeping on that fifth year option something fierce. McDuffie is sub 13 million and Karlaftis is sub 15 million with an extra year of control. Both guys that probably clear 25 million on the open market, especially with how scarce it's become.

None of that is worth sacrificing for an extra 4th.

This will not be the draft that we end up with two top 15is players in the first round like McDuffie and Karlaftis. That was a freak anomaly and one of the best first rounds the Chiefs have had or will have in their drafting history. We should NOT expect that to be the norm but rather look back and say what a gigantic win that year was.

I'm team trade down because this draft kind of blows. At least for top end talent. The second round starts at like pick 15
