What do you propose? And I am saying strong evidence where the majority of this board accept the WR room as a team weakness because we lose big games to say a Miami and a Philadelphia. You would just say let's get it done next year?

So no other team would want someone like him who could trade a more valuable pick in the same round? Got it.

Very few teams are what we are, SB contenders. So the list teams in competition for him wouldn't be large.

Oh, got it. So he went for a 1st less than 2 years ago to a team that was just expected to be the worst in the league but now there are only a couple teams who feel they have high enough odds to win a SB to risk trading for a player like Brown.

Ok

Yes.

Again, no matter what chiefzilla will say, it's the same ****ing WRs from last year that won a Super Bowl. Kelce is old, but reports of his death, at least in the short term, are greatly exaggerated. He looks good out there, hyperextension and all, and what we can bank on is him being good and doing what we need him to do this season. While he's doing that, we keep working these receivers we currently have.

Barring Veach finding another Toney who won't cost anything in terms of cap dollars multiple years down the line, we shouldn't piss away shit just to try to improve in the short term.

Sorry, but that's how it has to work if you've got a QB as expensive as Mahomes and you're committed to spending big on OL to keep him upright. You're gonna have to hit on your WR draft picks.

Just be patient.

I mean, I’ve basically said we are fine minus the juju role but good chance rashee will fill it. I have way more beef with peoples contentness with the wr room before the draft than I was after. I thought people underappreciated kelces mammoth role and I think people get it now.

I have more risk tolerance to pay for a wr but I’m not advocating for any trades. I’m fine rolling the dice with rashee. I’m glad people are glad we went after a Wr in the draft and many want to stay aggressive. If they want to do that instead of spend thats fine. But I just hope the disrespect for what a good WR can do for mahomes ends. It isn’t a low priority position and we should be aggressive, even if in the draft, to give mahomes weapons here.

Going up against the vaunted Jets defense is going to be a nice measuring stick on where our WR's are as a whole. Did we have a breakthrough against the Bears or do they have a ways to go? Find out Sunday night.

Some of you guys are looking at this like you can separate the cap and the roster as a whole from a specific position group and you can't. Everything affects everything.

We're paying an extremely high salary to our totally worth it QB. We're paying a chunk to 40% of our offensive line to keep Mahomes upright. We're paying a bunch to Jones.

Going young at WR was a risk, but it's necessary. Choosing to invest in the offensive line was not foolish. Paying Jones is not foolish.

If Mahomes has a top 5 defense - and it looks like he might, I don't think there's anything that can stop this TEAM. I capitalize that because some of you are forgetting -it's a full roster.

Nobody has ever said that it's better to not have Tyreek. What's been said is that it's better to have more talent spread across not only the WR room, but the entire roster. The team OVERALL is better for not PAYING Hill. Some of you guys are unable separate the cap reality from the fantasy football stats.

It'd be great to have Chase, Higgins, and Boyd for Mahomes to throw to. Not so great if we had to pay them all market price, because we'd have to put up 40 every week to to try to win. There'd be no Jones, no higher paid offensive line, we'd be relying on draft picks everywhere else.

Veach has built a complete team here. I think some are missing that very important point.

No, we’re really not. The most vocal about WR are fine with drafting rice and giving him a shot. We’re fine spending $ but also fine as long as we aggressively look for WR1 through aggressive avenues. Rashee changes the entire trajectory of the WR room. I don’t know his entire upside but at least he fits the mold of the every down primary guy some of his have been clamoring for. It didn’t cost a bazillion dollars to get him but he’s already proving that there are so many things we can now open in our playbook because we have him. And I believe that will continue to ring true.

But not everyone cared if we took a WR. They would have been fine skipping WR to make sure we got a pass rusher and OT squared away. Betting the farm on skyy to step in and be the target monster juju was. Most of the people didn’t care if we went young as long - they would have settled for cheap and a second rate priority to virtually every other position on the field. And no I don’t subscribe to that approach at all. We needed a WR like rice. We likely still need to shoot for guys better than rice in the upcoming drafts. If that means using the draft not just once, but frequently, great.

That's you.

I just had an exchange with MahomesMagic in this thread where he asked me what I would do if the WRs are much of the same as we had the first three weeks, as if standing pat midseason was a completely idiotic course of action.

This thread is full of other posters either demanding/proposing that Veach go hunt for a WR trade immediately or lamenting that we weren't more aggressive in acquiring Poopkins.

Those posters lack patience. And frankly, they lack trust in the organization and coaching staff.

Sure but you did call me out on it in another post. I don’t know that he’s demanding a trade. He seems to think we should aggressively entertain one. I personally don’t think we could find a reasonable $/trade comp WR even if we tried. I don’t think it’s worth that comp. However I don’t think a reasonably comped guy disrupts our youth commitment as much as we think. I personally would also not settle for anyone who isn’t a legit x/y so I don’t agree with most of the names thrown out there.

I’m not sore about missing out on someone like DHop. I do think the beginning of the season would’ve been less chaotic with a bandaid and the main guy impacted would’ve been Watson, which is fine. But it’s working out ok for us given the stretch of games ahead so it’s all good

Nobody was okay with not having good WR's. Nobody.

Some people understand the salary cap implications and some do not, and that's the divide.

Some people think we need to go buy a WR corps to rival Joe Burrow's without realizing that the Bengals aren't paying those guys yet, and they got those guys picking at or near the top of the draft.

Veach has invested a LOT in the WR room in the last year and a half. And I'm sure he'll continue to do so, but it's not going to be in high priced free agents-nor should it. That's going to cost you other in other positions.

This was absolutely the best time to draft and develop the WR room, while you still have Kelce doing Kelce things-and now it looks like you've built a great defense.

Some of these guys are going to pan out. Some may not. But we're going to be better moving forward for the process.

But you’re not hearing the main part of this…. Most of this crowd would’ve been fine skipping a WR like rashee rice and rolling into the season betting the farm on skyy being “the guy.” It isn’t just about $. People thought it should be low priority in the draft too. If we used our early picks on OT and DE and DT or another DB, we’d still have the same hype train and the narrative that we can always win on quality depth, instead of acknowledging that rice likely has a lot of the missing ingredients we’d be sorely missing
