Any Bourbon drinkers out there?

I've heard some good things about Buffalo Trace Bourbon.
http://www.buffalotrace.com/

Can't get it up here north of the border but, through a wine distributer I am able to order a case. Would like to hear from someone who knows their stuff and has tried it before I order.

Thanks

I picked up a bottle of Woodson Private Reserve Bourbon at Hy Vee today. First time I've tried it. Pretty damn tasty!

$70 each. Overpaid, but not by enough to matter, IMO.

Yeah, I'd pay that here. It can be found, if lucky, for $60. But you'd have to know someone before the shelves are cleared.

Pablo, my current wife is mailing your bourbon package this morning. Going UPS route thanks to KCUnited's tip. You'll find 5, 2oz pours labeled A-E. Also, a sealed "scorecard."

I'll post my flight tasting example here for others. I sometimes have my wife set up blind tastings for me.

Example:
I recommend doing a blind tasting by pouring 1oz (half of the vial) pours of all 5 vials. Work on searching for flavors, notes and preferences. Rank these pours from favorite to least liked. After completing this tasting, open the scorecard and see what ranked where.

Spend time at distiller.com typing in each bottle and reviewing notes. If you've never looked at this website, it's a great place to review for tons of alcohol. Example below.

https://distiller.com/spirits/evan-w...l-vintage-2012

Review the bottles and suggested tasting notes. Look at the mash bill. On a separate occasion pour the remaining half vials again. Now knowing what each pour is, look at the tasting notes, mash bill and proof. See what tasting notes you can find as you make your way through tasting again. Add a dash of water if it's a higher proof or too "hot." This allows you to learn your preference for bourbon (wheated vs rye) and understand your preference in mash bills.

Cheers to all of you and bourbon!

You drink all that pappys yet?

May have access to the next step up bottle. If I get it I’ll ship out samples to all the bourbonites in this thread

No, I've been saving it. Haven't been drinking much lately, and when I do it's a beer or three after a round of golf.

Came 6 inches from an ace today and won closest to the hole and a skin, so a few rounds were on me today.

We have some rain rolling in this evening. So I think I’m going to sit on my upstairs porch and drink some bourbon and smoke a good cigar.

Should we have a cigar thread? Or just discuss it in various threads?

What are CP’s favorite cigars?

For Cubans, I really like Montecristo #2, their torpedo. Cohiba is nice but everybody tries to smoke them, so the price goes through the roof. I had a Cohiba Behike 52 I’m Europe a few years ago. Really smooth cigar. It was about 40€ at the time. Expensive, but I figured I was on vacation, so why not. Now, my Cuban supplier is selling them at about $112 a cigar. I’m not paying that much for a cigar.

Ghurkas are good cigars. They are tapered, which I find helps with the flavor.

Anything by CAO is smokable in my opinion. Their robustos are excellent for a short, quick smoke.

Hoyo de Nicaragua makes good cigars for the money.

I’ve got a box of Monetecristo #2s headed here, and I have one left. I think I will smoke it tonight.
