I am going to pick a bottle up and try to get it in tomorrow... ...does it take much prep, ie. Do I have to flush the radiator or anything?

So after weeks of my wifes car bleeding power steering fluid all over my garage floor I had time to put it on ramps and track down the leak.
It is leaking out of the boot for where the column comes down to the steering rack. Any opinions on whether there is an "easy" fix for this or is this a bite the bullet and have someone put a new rack in it. Car is an 04 chrysler pacifica awd. I wanted to trade it in on a new rig for my wife but she wants to give it to my daughter. |

Or maybe a pump/reservoir if it isn't hard to get to. I wouldn't mess with a rack. |

It may not be the rack itself leaking, you need to get in there and find out what the true problem is. If its a rack, good luck with some duct tape and JB weld. You will be better off to trade it in.. with me Not to mention, Chrysler pacificas are beaters. Dont put that evil on your kid~ |

LOOKING FOR HELP!
Rebuilt the top end of my engine this winter. I replaced the intake manifold gasket, rebuilt the fuel injectors, new exhaust manifold gaskets, new plugs and rerouted new plug wires, new belt. I also put the air conditioning system back on. It had been removed at some time so I put in a new compressor, along with all the tubing and hoses. Put her all back together a couple of weeks ago and BINGO. It started. Wasn't long until the back of the garage was full of light colored smoke that smells like gas, and had raw gas leaking out of a area that didn't get welded correctly when I put a different exhaust system on it last year. I've ordered a new fuel pressure regulator, although I'm not sure this will cause any difference. I took the fuel rail and injectors off again today, and checked over all the injectors and squirted some carb cleaner into the fuel pressure regulator in case it was seized up. Put her back together, and as soon as the exhaust heated up, out rolled the smoke again. Any ideas? I'm not much of a mechanic, but hell, something is causing raw gas to get through the engine. It runs pretty smooth when I start it up. No noticeable missing or surging. I hate to **** with the plugs again as the 3rd plug on the passenger side took me 2 days to get started. They are a real pain in the ass located almost directly below the header tubes. If a couple of the injectors were stuck on, wouldn't it backfire and run rough? 96 Trans Am Convertible with LT1 engine. Thanks for reading.

Are you sure it's raw fuel coming out of the exhaust?
Should be tons of black smoke and runs terrible if that much fuel running through it. Oil smell like gas? Will it burn on the dipstick? Are you getting pulse to the injector wires? Bad ground could make it hang the injectors open... |
