Kaindoh (pronounced cane-dough) was tabbed as one of the top defensive end prospects in the country and a USA Today first-team All-American after spending his senior season at IMG Academy. The Baltimore native flashed talent in his first two years in Tallahassee, earning playing time in all 13 games of his true freshman season (17 tackles, 6.5 for loss, with four sacks) and then starting once in 12 appearances in 2018 (19 tackles, 4.5 for loss, with three sacks). Kaindoh appeared in three games with one start in his junior campaign (nine tackles, 2.5 for loss, with one sack) but was lost for the rest of the year with a lower leg injury. Overview
Former five-star defensive end who looks the part but doesn't have the production to go with the traits. Kaindoh has good length but is inconsistent in activating it properly, as his upper-body strength falls a little short. He doesn't have the natural gait and fluid movements of fellow FSU defensive end prospect Janarius Robinson and tends to stay blocked once his opponent gets into his frame. There are occasional flashes as a rusher, but if he doesn't take an early lead, he's unlikely to get home. He might be worth a look later in the draft based purely upon the traits.
Strengths

• Long, NFL-caliber frame with even more room for muscle.
• Adequate upfield spring off the snap and into neutral zone.
• Initial quickness and body lean help him knife into B-gap on slants.
• Uses length to separate and set the edge.
• Capable of getting from one edge to the other with his rush counter.
• Speed-to-power conversion potential as a pro.
• Length could become more effective rush weapon with work.

Weaknesses

• Has dealt with injuries and made just 10 career starts.
• Looked as though he were favoring left ankle at times.
• Play tends to be segmented and lacks athletic fluidity.
• Doesn't use size traits to command the rep.
• Below-average rush with only one sack in his last 11 games.
• Inaccurate hand slaps fail to open outside rush lanes.
• Not enough bend to dip below punch at top of the rush.
• Runs out of gas during chase.

It's rare a defensive lineman looks bad when he gets off the line untouched. He's shown he gets routinely pancaked going around the edge in other shots. Seriously, virtually no moves besides a speed rush that isn't elite. I was disappointed.

It’s not gonna happen this year IMO. I’ve watched him and he’s very raw. Best case he makes the roster this year, gets a little action next year and then has a Kpass-like 3rd year.

I've specifically watched Kaindoh on all his plays in both games. I honestly cannot recall one time he was pancaked, but possible I've missed it. With that said, he isn't "routinely pancaked" whether going around the edge or otherwise.

In my opinion, I actually think he's held up very well in the run game, but definitely much room for improvement in his pass rush.

I would like to see the pancaking. I didnt hear anything about that in training camp and he looked good against the cards, i didnt see the first preseason game though.

Each spring, the NFL holds a draft in which players from the NCAA enter into a pool, and NFL teams take turns selecting from that pool of players. The worse your record was the previous year, the earlier you get to make your selection. Each team, barring forfeitures due to rule breaking, receives one selection per round for seven rounds. Compensatory picks are also awarded at the ends of rounds 3-7 for having your minority assistants hired as head coaches by other teams and for teams whose free agents signed with other teams outweigh in terms of contract dollar values the players that team brought in during free agency. From there, teams can trade their picks for other players and other draft selections even if those draft selections guaranteed selections in future seasons.

In the spring of 2021, the Kansas City Chiefs had a pick in the 4th round (144th overall) and they decided to select Joshua Kaindoh, who played DE for Florida State when he was in college. That's the player you didn't know about.

Oftentimes, the draft is a large part of a team's personnel-building strategy. Even picks in the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th are viewed as valuable assets that teams can use to find good players, so if you're a fan of your team and you want to keep tabs on how they're doing and where they'll be going in future seasons, you should familiarize yourself with the rundown of your favorite team's draft selections from that year. My favorite team is the Kansas City Chiefs, so I happened to know who Joshua Kaindoh was off the top of my head, because I knew his name from the list of draft picks the Chiefs made in the 2021 draft.

What is Kaindoh doing on this play?? Yes, I know he’s a rookie and it’s only one play and I’m not calling him a bust. Frank Clark doesn’t bring much pass rush but he wouldn’t have allowed this run to go for a touchdown.

The motioned the TE over to get the backers to shift. Shifted the fullback into the backfield to have him essentially become a pulling tackle. Kaindoh saw the LT block down and chased with him. He didn't feel the pulling guard coming.

He was trying to 'seal' the edge by tagging the LT and creating space. Then he'd disengage and fill the hole. Just as he starts to disengage, the RG pulling across the formation locked him up and drove him out.

Just lacked some awareness there. And probably should've tried to disengage sooner but didn't have a feel for the timing on stuff like that yet.

My guess is that he's a rookie who's had 'set the edge, do your job' drilled into his head so often that he overplayed it. He knew his job was to make sure that edge was set so he was a little overzealous in doing so and rather than a quick chuck before getting his head up to find the ball-carrier, he overcommitted and left himself open to getting taken out by the pulling G.
