Tbh I think the worst case scenario for me as a rival fan would be Denver getting Cousins in FA and drafting one of Minkah Fitzpatrick or Bradley Chubb.

You can't pay Cousins and then not protect him. And after paying Cousins, you won't be able to afford good lineman in FA so you have to draft them.

For me, that's the preferred path... Cousins is known and still has a half dozen years left. Pay him, spend the picks on OL and guys that can help him. I know - Elway can't draft. We'll see.

Kolton Miller, Chukwuma Okorafor or Desmond Harrison will be available in rd 2. Broncos also have a ton of picks and could trade back into late round 1 for someone like Mike McGlinchey.

I’d you get Cousins, Talib is most likely gone. I would also get rid of Manelik Watson straight up. You save money and cut his $7.17 million cap hit that he doesn’t deserve.

You would still have Donald Stephenson who is insurance. Bottomline is you get $13 million for Talib and Watson.

Watson's a goner no matter what. And Stephenson is a FA.

I'd prefer to draft a young QB, and to spend the money that would've went to Cousins on Andrew Norwell and a RT. Klis has mentioned that Denver could have their eye on RT Ja'Wuan James in FA.

He re-did his deal before the season started and they voided the last year of his contract.
