On occasion a trail cam card includes a prize photo that must be shared. Here is on from a series on today's pull that Discovery would want. The date is set wrong on cam.

You boys need to come down to Durango for a weekend and stay over. Don't need to dress warm, get up too early or even get dressed. Well, cover up the goodies at least. Just brew some coffee, crack the window, point the rifle out and wait.

Took these Sunday Morning. Things are like feral cats around here.

LOL

Dad tells me when he first moved out to the farm from town, he woke up in the morning with 40 or so deer in the yard just hammering mom's flowers and yard just staring at his ass through the window. So he's like WTF Mate!? So he goes and hollers at them thinking they'll bolt. They give no ****s.

So he goes and gets a shotgun and shoots it in the air. They jump at the report, but no way in hell they're leaving the grass and those good ass flowers.

So he plugs one in the ass with birdshot, then they finally decide it's time to go.

Yep, they're honery SOBs. They go up on people's decks and eat whatever they want, one of them mauled my past dog, almost hit two while flying down the bike trail. They have no fear. Hell, in PA you can't get within 100 yards of one if it sees you. Here they expect you to get out of the way. Think it's time to invest in a crossbow.

I hunted just north of you a few years ago and nearly killed myself trying to kill a good one. Went to town to get ice about half way through the hunt only to see exactly what's in your pictures. Deer in every damn yard.

So, Christmas has me looking at a lot of rifles. Does anyone have a favorite all around rifle that you like to shoot big deer an elk with? I'm leaning towards a Winchester Model 70 .308 Featherweight.

What say you all?

I fed my family with wild game meat for the very first time tonight. I eased them into it by making Venison Tacos. Man, sooo good. I made some fresh guacamole and used Dorito Taco Shells. I felt a real sense of satisfaction with my effort and pride that I was feeding my family with an animal I took.

There's something very satisfying about knowing you have provided for your clan without going to the store.

Bird hunting season is pretty much over here in Mo. Today was next to the last day so I made another run with my dogs. I took them up to hunt the corp ground around Stockton Lake. Didn't find any birds but my youngest dog almost had his last hunt. He went out on the lake ice and fell in the lake. I didn't see it happen as I was going to take a picture of the lake. I looked over and there was Hoss hanging on for dear life at the edge of the ice. I thought I was going to have to go in a save him but as he slipped one more time he figured out that it was easier to swim around the ice then climb back on to it from the water.

He was a whipped pup but he was alive. He walked the two miles up the hill back to the truck although there was a point where I thought I might have to carry him. He got to ride home in the warm cab of the truck and now he gets to spend some time in the house. I really thought I might lose him there for a couple of minutes so much so I was disrobing preparing to get into the icy water. I wasn't very deep so I probably wouldn't have drowned but I'd probably had an issue with hypothermia. Another great day in the Ozarks!

Glad to hear he made it out!

Those few seconds of watching them figure out how to survive the ice is a terrible feeling.

Wondering if anyone will be doing some Spring turkey hunting on public land in Kansas. I'd love a few suggestions on spots!
