Yea he didn’t even land on him with his body weight.

That’s definitely not deserving of a penalty.

It shouldn't have been a penalty. I'm pretty sure that was an early down play as well and he should have probably thrown it away.

mahomes is already the 5th best player in football according to league executives

Who are the 10 best players in the NFL today?

That's a text we sent to 12 longtime NFL scouts, coaches and general managers as the NFL season nears its midpoint.

That question alone is tough to answer. You almost need context to define what "best" means. Are the best players those with the most talent or the players dominating statistically? To be one of the 10 best players, do you have to have both talent and production?

Ultimately, that was up to the 12 men responding. What does best mean to them and who ranks in the top 10 players right now?

Here are the results.
Quote:
5. Patrick Mahomes

Scout's Take: "Mahomes has to be on your list. He's going to be league MVP."

Only seven starts into his NFL career, Mahomes is on this list as one of the best players in the league. And it's important to remember this isn't about who has had the best career. It's looking at the best players of the present.

Mahomes is one of them.

Through the Chiefs' 5-1 start, Mahomes has thrown for 18 touchdowns and just four interceptions while generating the kind of buzz throughout the league rarely seen after a handful of starts. Mahomes is not only one of the league's most productive players right now, but he's also one of its most marketable. He has the talent and success to quickly become one of the faces of the NFL.

He's the single most valuable asset in football and I'm not sure there's a close 2nd.

Are there any 2 players in the league you'd trade him for? 3? Contract is a consideration.

There's maybe one deal I'd make - to the Rams for Goff, Donald and Gurley. And even then it would just be because of how much of Donald and Gurley's deals are loaded into signing bonuses that would accelerate onto the Rams cap rather than ours.

The Rams would never do it. I mean, it would be damn near mathamatically impossible for them given the dead money hits they'd take on those signing bonuses. But that's about it. And I know that's an unreasonable ask on my end but if they offered Goff and Donald for him...I don't think we're better. I'd need more.

Was thinking about this yesterday. Mahomes is worth so much that it would take too much for another team to acquire him. The Chiefs would have to get, what, 5 first rounders and I don't think they'd do it for even that. At the same time, no other team would give up that much value into the future, even for a player like Mahomes.

Right now, in my mind, he's un-tradable, which is awesome.

I would NOT make that deal. Don't care, don't think Goff is the same player as Mahomes, and as good as the others are, I don't think they're signifigantly better than what we already have. Nope.

Do you know who Aaron Donald is?

"Wouldn't do it" - defensible take.

"Aaron Donald isn't a significant upgrade" - not a defensible take.

And the move for Gurley frees Hunt up for a deal for a defensive upgrade.

In a few years, Veach will need to follow the Patriot model for Pat. They freaking stole Josh Gordon for nothing and signed Cordarelle Patterson for $3.25 million.

Draft at least 1 athletic WR (Byron Pringle is good) and get another deal.

Mahomes will make any of those guys look amazing.
