I initially winced during this scene, but after thinking about it more... Leia comes from a pretty distinguished family of force users and was told by luke many years ago, that she possesses the same power that he does. Is it too big a leap to think that she learned how to nudge objects around using the force in the 30 years since he said that to her?

Right, we've never seen Astral Projection before but we also know Luke has been hermiting himself away digging into a bunch of dark lore etc. etc. Is it too big a stretch to think he discovered this ability over that period of time?

Yoda is the most powerful Jedi of all time, no telling what he can/can't do. But I admit, I did wince at that part too.

none of these things "break" from Force Canon to my knowledge, which is admittedly limited to the movies for the most part. Or is there something in the books or animated series that says

C'mon. It was beautiful.

We got to see Princess Leia...who obviously has some genetic ability to use the Force...use the Force. For the first time...ever. I gasped. I teared up.

And the scene was executed gracefully and beautifully. Just like the character. There was no goofy ass force jumps or anything. She didn't force choke Poe.

I've been reading about Leia using the force in books and comics for decades. And suddenly, out of nowhere, it was happening in a movie, in a total believable way.

As a Star Wars fan, that was just plain cool. It was fun!!!!

The middle hour of this movie wasn't fun. It was boring.

We're running out of fuel!!!!

I don't think I'm bothered by the astral projection as much as Dane, but what a weak way to send such an iconic character out on.

Not since Kirk riding a bridge down a bunch of rocks have I seen such an iconic sci-fi character go out in such a weak, unmemorable way.

Leia wouldn't need to make a force bubble, she'd just need to nudge herself in a zero gravity environment back to the ship. Even the little kid with no training, no Darth Vader for a father, no Luke Skywalker for a brother, and no Kylo Ren for a son can nudge a broom even when the said broom is being acted upon by gravity.

Snoke was the McGuffin.

He was killed by Kylo Ren and takes his place as the Supreme Leader of the First Order. With no Republic and less than 20 Resistance fighters, all of whom fit inside the Millennium Falcon, Kylo Ren achieved what Darth Vader could not: Ruler of the Galaxy.

What needs to happen in Episode IX is that either Kylo Ren, once again, destroys the Jedi Order led by Rey, or Rey destroys Kylo Ren.

There can be no redemption for Kylo Ren.

there is no way in any multiverse we can imagine that Disney allows the bad guys to win at the end of this trilogy. Now, they can kill off people we love aka Hans Solo along the way to that win but the good guys must win.

I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to Star Wars movies. I was ok with the Force Awakens and loved Rogue One. I ****ing hated most of what I just saw. So disappointed. Disney is obviously paying critics.

Ok, it's not what you wanted, but like others I was equally worried that we were going to see him somersaulting all over the place kicking butt in ways that we've never seen him do, even when he was young. He's been out of the game now for how many years, collecting dust. He didn't want back into this fight, hadn't been training for this fight, and the one thing he had been doing all this time, was studying ancient ways and methods of the force. Astral Projection realistically might have been the sharpest weapon he had left to offer. This ending was probably the most fitting and realistic ending that could have been conceived. And Hamill did it really well.

A ton of negativity so far, some of it definitely justified. Here's one positive -

The throne room battle was amazing. Rey and Ben mowing down Snoke's Praetorian Guard was bad ass. I liked the conversation they had after the battle, with both struggling the pull of the other side of the Force.

The throne room battle with Rey and Kylo killing the Praetorian Guard was cool

Also. With no crystal how can they construct light sabers since they destroyed Anakins?
