Dixon's in Independence isn't bad if you give it a chance but that Shyline shit is a pile of crap I know as I have tried it.

When they had the Dixons in Downtown KC we would eat lunch there when we were in the area. Good stuff. I try to get to the one in Independence at least a half dozen times a year. The Tacos and Burrito is awsome so is the chili dog.

I'm unfamiliar with this cooker but after a quick glance there are some things I like about it:
  • Multi use, can work as a grill and pizza oven
  • Allows for multiple fuel sources (wood, pellets, gas)
  • Its priced right
  • Reading a couple reviews and it appears to get up to 800-900F which is plenty hot and some say they prefer it to the similar Ooni which is what I use so it seems legit

Things I question:
  • It doesn't have a door so I'd be concerned with heat loss
  • Also, the flames don't don't appear to come over the top of the pizza like a traditional pizza oven. So depending on how heavily topped your pizzas are, you may run the risk of the crust burning before the toppings get fully cooked, or a getting a nice crust and undercooked toppings. You kind of want both top and bottom getting cooked evenly.

A couple things to keep in mind when shopping pizza ovens:

This has a capacity for 12" pizzas which is about a personal size pizza and you'll likely only be able to cook them one at a time. That works for me and the wife since there's just 2 of us. I can bang out 2 12" pizzas in about 10 minutes (after you're done with the first pizza it takes the oven a few minutes to get back up to temp before you can throw in the next one). So if you're cooking for 3 or more people you may want to look into an oven with a 16" capacity (the average CPers wives vaginal capacity).

Also a note on gas vs pellet. At temps around 800-900F gas is going be much easier to control. Kind of like set it and forget it in BBQ terms. Using wood or pellets, you'll have to monitor feeding the oven which can get challenging if you're also forming and topping the pizzas at the same time. You have to be much more organized so your fire doesn't go out or drop in temp.

I like cooking with fire, so I use pellets but others prefer gas as it requires less monitoring and is more consistent.

More grill stuff. Just a perfect day here. Absolutely beautiful. Star of the show here are the Fanestil hot links up top. Found at the new Red X. Juicy delicious bastards that aren’t blazing hot. Pretty sure threebag has pimped them in this thread among others

Been a long time since I made a trip to Red X. Have to get there and get some of that. Festival used to carry Fanestil Franks and Hot Links when it transitioned to Sunfresh they were gone. Good stuff seems all I ever see in places is Earl Cambell Fricks or Bar S that are sketchy. Sam's used to sell Fanestil Polish Dogs in a big box of like 50 they were damn good too.

There's gonna be a Fareway in Liberty in a few months, they would be a safe bet. When I was there they had some small packs of polish, regular hotdogs, and a party ham thing. They split the hot links out and price per pound but I'm sure you could get a case of whatever if you talked to the guy. They've got a butcher back there.

It's transitioned into an actual grocery store, but they've still got a kickass liquor and beer selection, bunch of setups for lotto and cigarettes and all that good stuff. Random stuff there you still won't find other places, just not a million little displays with trucker gear and antiques and shit.

I'm not sure what he does/uses, but here a link to what I use when I'm diving because I tend to cramp in my arches after longer dives.

I only take a One a Day Vitamin. I should probably buy one of those Electrolyte powders but I'm stubborn at times.

I'm drinking a minimum of a 1 1/2 gallons of water each day to prevent the gout attacks. If I only do 1/2 gallon or less for a few days in a row, I'm raising my gout risk immensely.

I now walk between 30 - 75 minutes each morning in my community.

Not bad except the sodium is a little high as this is really good for an active athlete to help return fluids. I avoid salt or else my legs swell.
