Fellas. He’s turning 31 in 3 weeks. He was out of football for 11 months coming off an ACL. They rushed him and this was his first game back.

The man probably got cramps. Give it a few games. Let’s be realistic here.
Really?

I never so much as found him on the sideline again at the end of that game. They have a tunnel in the middle of the sideline, I'd presumed they'd just walked him down it and back to the lockerroom.

Once I couldn't find him on the sideline after he got off the table, I just assumed he was done and stopped trying to spot him. And he's a large man - I figure he'd have stood out.

I really don't think he re-entered the game.

Last night showed that just upgrading personnel is not going to be enough to fix the pass protection issues.

Playcalling, schemes, Mahomes getting rid of the ball quicker… has to be a comprehensive effort.

But when he hits his drop and fires, things work. And he has guys with big frames and large catch radiuses. He needs to be more aggressive on when he lets them use those. All too often he gets back there, expects to see someone Tyreek open because he dusted a guy and then when he doesn't see that, he pats the ball and starts dancing.

Man, if you have the look you wanted and the receiver doesn't fall down - throw it. Let him make a play on the ball.

Other QBs are doing it. We aren't.
That's the most frustrating part of it. The hurry up drive, outside a couple other throws, Pat is creating or at least making the porous OL even worse being indecisive on cutting it loose. That drive they ball was coming out quick and they looked like a dangerous offense. Then poof, back to indecision most of the second half. The OL isn't helping him much, but he needs to get that ball out faster.

Unfortunately, I missed most of the TD drive. Does anyone remember if they were running hurryup? As in, no huddle?

Just pulled up the game and looked at last few plays and Wanya Morris was still in at LT.

Yes, they were running tempo.

Andy credited that as a reason for the drive’s success during the halftime interview.

Not sure why the Chiefs don’t run tempo more… it’s a good way to negate the pass rush.

Then Andy caught them in a personnel package he liked. But for some reason he couldn't do it again the rest of the game. Or, it's possible that he didn't try to do it again. "Plans within plans" shit. Or, maybe it had something to do with Humphries not being ready for that.

I hope we see more of that kind of thing in the playoffs, because I think that's going to be the best way to keep the offense moving/scoring in Jan.

Yeah - and he about ruined the play to Kelce, IIRC.

It was that one or the throw to Worthy.

He just got smoked and it was Thuney (I think) that had to save his ass. And even then, it was the roll to the right that did it. Had Mahomes stayed in the pocket, he'd have gotten smashed.

The problem with Morris at this point is that he's just going to lost catastrophically about 1/3 of the time and it seems to come at the most critical moments.

EDIT:

Yeah - it's the Kelce throw

Just completely whiffs on his punch. Damn near falls down. What an embarrassing rep.

This is why I think Mahomes is so quick to bail from the pocket with the sort of “ghost blitz” that Harbaugh developed. Our two tackles have proven to be whiff masters and Patrick just seems to believe an untouched defender could be heading his way any moment.

I don’t love that Harbaugh’s in our division now. The stunts his line was doing yesterday is the type of thing that even gave our 2019 O line fits.

Yeah, I don't get it.

Back in 2021 when the offense looked awful, it seemed like he was really frustrated with play calling or teammates or something... he was throwing a lot of passes at the feet of receivers and of course the offense just looked like shit. There were a few opening drives in particular that seemed to be 'back to basics' drive before it would go to shit.

And then you look at Mahomes earlier in his career and Allen for most of his career, and they had/have all the confidence in the world... Allen's problem makes far more sense, he resorts to hero ball sometimes and is maybe over-confident.

How Mahomes goes from confident/decisive to lost and 2nd guessing on a drive-to-drive basis is kind of baffling due to the huge swings one way or another.... they generally do pretty well on opening drives, which makes sense. And then you give him the ball at the end of games, and he's usually really locked in. Sometimes during a game (end of the first half last night) they suddenly get their shit together, but often this season it doesn't carry over to multiple drives.

Speaking of which, I can't say I have seen us much if at all run stunts. I see exotic blitz of just about every kind, but it seems it is either a standard 4 man rush or blitzes. Our lack of consistent pressure kept them hanging around last night when they had no business doing with what personnel they had left on the roster.
