IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Mahomes is only big name client right now.

Funny that Chase Litton is also a client. I wonder if that led to Litton signing with the Chiefs as an UDFA. Yeah they have a young QB that's going to tear up the league.....but you could come learn from Reid and Henne....and then move on to another team.

Pretty sure Steinberg had issues with alcohol or drugs and is in the midst of a comeback.

Mahomes is a great get for him.

He's more angry about the Steelers defense than I am about the Chiefs defense. Goddamn.

Maybe that was why I started following him a bit. I remember there being a big blowup at his agency and stuff like that and he did something of a comeback tour. I didn't recall it being alcoholism.

I like the guy.

Yup.

As soon as I heard that, I knew he was sticking to whatever it was he'd decided he was going to say before the game.

There's no way you can come away from that game and say he didn't face pressure. He faced a fair amount of it - he just stood in, gave it the bird and through the ball through the teeth of it.

Rather than let those zone blitzes get him off his spot, he did Tom Brady stuff, knew that the blitz would leave an open zone where he came from and looked directly past it for his open target.

It was a damn masterclass. Just a spectacular performance from the kid.

There is NO adjusting to what he did. There isn't. Some games he simply won't be that sharp and some games the defense will have a few more weapons to knock some balls down. But on days that he's that sharp, the best you can hope for is holding the Chiefs to 28 or so regardless of your own talent or scheme. He was just ****ing locked in.

From everything I've read and heard from Mahomes, playing behind Alex Smith did wonders for him mentally. I've heard him say that if he played last year he would've effectively been winging it, but he got to learn how to read defenses and determine his reads at the LOS. Its ****ing ridiculous how good he is at it.

At least Smith was useful for something besides elevating the Chiefs to playoff pretenders.

As much as it would have helped this team last year.....you can't make that move. You're effectively tanking any value that Smith has after that season. You don't get a 3rd round pick and Fuller if you pull Smith for Mahomes at any time last season.
