The fate of Chris Jones 2023 edition

Appears the Chiefs and Chris Jones are at the beginning of a contract dispute

Speculation has been that the two sides are "far apart" on a deal

So Chiefs Planet.... how do we think this will play out (poll coming)

Will the Chiefs pay up and meet Chris Jones demands? If so, how much will it end up costing?

Will the Chiefs not be able to meet Chris Jones demands and end up trading him? If so, what kind of haul can we expect?

I've really loved watching Chris Jones wreck shit for the Chiefs, it always sucks when the business side of the NFL forces teams into tough decisions.

Anyone know how much Chris Jones now owes in fines from his holdout?

All training camp days are 50,000 a piece

Can't remember how much a preseason game cost

need a fine tracker with the running total, it's a disgusting amount of money

Read an article the other day saying that it'd be around 2.4m in total if he misses the first pre season game. And IIRC it's about 1.1m per game?

Just rewatched the game (still a couple minutes left, but whatever) and Shelton's actually got a little quickness laterally. Winston tried to out-quick him to the outside, and somehow Shelton got his big ass to pop out enough to allow him to snag a shoelace on the dive. Kind of impressive really.

It's 1/18th of a game check. Mike Florio seems to think the game check penalty is optional though. If that's true, unless it gets ugly, I doubt the Chiefs fine him for the game.

So that'd come out to about as much as missing a day of camp? If the extra penalty is optional and isn't applied.

When (if....)he signs, the team will waive that in a heartbeat.

He is under contract for thus season. He HAS to ball out or will guarantee a pittance contract offer from the Chiefs. Veach knows this, Jones doesn't have the ability to sit out a season and then still demand a top contract. He must play. Period.

Sorry, I meant 1/18th of his salary, which is 20 million I believe. Comes out to 1.1 million.

He has been a decent tackle but discipline shedding the blubber has kept him from being top-notch. He is always going to be a huge man but that extra weight will end his career. The training staff has made some headway hope he keeps to it.

With the missing camp fine of 50,000 a practice, he is right in the ballpark of 2 million lost so far.

It's hard for me to believe they are haggling over a couple of million a year for 3 or 4 years, and he has just handed back one of those years. They have to be further apart for this holdout to even make sense.
