I've been hearing that VW isn't the only manufacturer that is playing games. I have a sneaking suspicion that this will be the death knell for diesel passenger cars in the U.S.

From what little I've read they had a program that switched fuel mapping while testing then switched to more responsive fuel mapping for every day use.
It's kind of strange to me that people are reporting lower fuel mileage after reprogramming so that it runs on the measurement mode. I would think with the lower emissions it would be the opposite.

Edit: had a conversation with our groups mechanical engineer and he said it has a lot more to do with exhaust gas recirculating than fuel mapping. So it then makes sense that it would hurt fuel mileage.

Haven't driven any Diesel cars since the '80's, which were gutless turds back then, but the new turbo Diesel trucks are pretty badass. Set you back in the seat torque that their big block gas motor predecessors wish they had.

Went to my second car show today. Took the best in class trophy home again. The SPS is 2-0. At least locally in the greater Tampa area.

People at the car shows love the SPS. No matter how cool the cars are around me are, people want to talk about the SPS.

Some of my favorite cars.......other than mine.

Sounds good. This one was a smaller one than the one last week. Probably 125 cars in this one.

I had to drive down to Miami this week on business. Took the SPS. Was going to try to get together but time just ran out.

Lots of bugs and road grime to get off the car this week from the trip. Then last night the wife wants to go the beach and see the sunset. Gets sand all in my car. Took me a lot longer to get it in car show shape this time.

It's now been a good 4 years without a single problem.
And buy good gaskets.

You would think Machens would have enough volume to get one.

Very cool. I have noticed I mostly see base model Challengers which are not common and the special models really stand out.

The guy was the announcing the best in class winner and called out "2015 Challenger". There were several there, SRT's and a Hellcat. I went who won? The guys yelled who won? The he said the Scat Pack Shaker. I got to the mic and said it's not just a "challenger". One of the guys yelled out, did you see his car? Does it look like "just a" challenger? The guy is now embarrassed. He says now I know.

I take my trophy and the guys are going what a dumbshit. Just a challenger...

Gearheads can be real finicky and anal sometimes.
