Winter storm Blair

How is Blair affecting you and yours? I put heat lamps in both of our wells and put those square styrofoam boxes over all outside spigots. Extra blankly on me beehive.
Daughter is driving from Manhattan home to garden city. Almost home. Will be a relief when she gets here.
Will have to water a few animals by hand.
Looks like the hutch area could get a LOT of ice. More than an inch.
Hope you all stay safe!

We have gotten saved a bit down here on southwest MO by a nice little dry pocket for most of the day. We have a few limbs/branches down in the yard and there are some power outages just about 10-15 miles north of here. If we get much more freezing rain things might get pretty shitty.

I’ve gotta vent for a moment. This is ****ed.

I made it home last night from work after midnight. Drove 20 mph the whole way, no issues.

So my relief arrived last night for work. And today apparently, he couldn’t get his car out of the lot, had to get a ride home from a maintenance guy who drives a big jacked up truck. His relief couldn’t make it in, so maintenance man had to pick up another coworker on her day off to come in and cover the shift.

And I’ve got three foot drifts in my driveway. Oh, and I live off a major street, so the plows have been through piling plowed snow at the foot of my drive.

I’ve been out twice trying to dig myself out and I’ve barely made a dent while trying not to give myself a heart attack. I honestly don’t know if I can dig myself out by myself in time to make it to work tomorrow.

Saw this kind of snow routinely when I lived in NYC, and it was always actually pretty fun. Bars would be open, everyone would get boozed up and the city would shut down so no work. I haven’t seen this kind of snow in Kansas in probably 40 years. Snow forts were epic that year. Not as much fun as an adult.

This sucks.

Anyone else get that emergency alert about Kansas highwata closing and don't be out driving? I'm trying to remember the last time a storm shut down a majority of highway around the KC area. 2010? The 2002 ice storm?

Just tell em to kick rocks. It isn't worth it. The plows haven't hit our street yet in West Shawnee. I literally could not leave today or tonight if I wanted to. I have a dentist appt tomorrow at 2pm...don't see how I'll make that either.

Sorry you all are going thru this, and then your only pleasure today, the Chiefs, turned into a nightmare.

Good luck everyone and be safe.
