Can you intelligently discuss anything, or are you limited to nothing but Herm hate and witless comebacks?

It's hard to have an intelligent argument with someone who can only manage " Herm sucks!" Please tell me why other than one sentence equivalents to "Can't you see? He sucks! He sucks!"

Sorry scooter, Herms style of coaching will never get him above 10-6... And that is would be considered a magical year for him....

Yes you can build and invest your future for 2 years. Teams do it all the time and have had more success that we have seen in 20 years.. Jesus Christ we are just one of the few teams left in the NFL that hasnt been to a superbowl in the last 35 years...

Probably.

And they'd be mostly right.

Same goes for Gunther and Marty.

I love the way people slam on Herm for not "developing" players but who the hell did Marty, Gunther or Vermeil "develop"?

Individual players who were already massively talented developed but the football teams overall weren't developed, certainly not to the level of the Patriots, Eagles, Packers, Giants, Steelers, etc.

Those teams rarely have a down year and consistently find talent in the draft to supplement their free agency losses.

The Chiefs OTOH looked to free agency to supplement their poor drafting.

And now as fans, we're dealing with this mess.

This approach Herm and Carl are taking is so 1980's, with free Agency and the draft, teams dont need 5 years to rebuild... Is a 3 year or less and you better have some results for your effort.

We are in year 3 of Herm and Carls plan......
That's a load of crap. You act like rebuilding is a 12-step program you can check off one by one down the list.

For whatever reason, we're nowhere close to being in year 3 of a rebuild. And I can't say for certain who's to blame for that, although I would suspect Carl. But the point is, we're not in year 3 of a rebuild.

No one knew that in 1989.

He took over a team in 1986 and got them to the brink of the Super Bowl two out of three years.

There wasn't any doubt at that time of Marty's coaching ability or likelihood of a Super Bowl.

Herm has been here 3 years. Not our fault he didnt stand up to Carl when he got here and started to build this team in his image... That is Herms fault for not having a sack or spine.

But your right, Herm probably bowed down to Carl, because he knew this was his last chance in the NFL as a Head Coach... There isnt another franchise willing to waste years on Herm for minimal return...

No. What a stupid false-choice. I'd rather be the New England Patriots that have turned over their roster several times since they began being consistently competitive as far back as Drew Bledsoe and their run at the Superbowl during his tenure. Geeze. This isn't hard folks. They started with their FREAKIN' QB when they drafted Bledsoe...and then they stumbled upon Brady as a great second day pick. But they kept trying to develop QB's--and that's the point. What in the hell does Herm's approach have anything to do with a successful rebuild? Croyle as your franchise guy?!?!

You think so small...present false choices...when neither approach you mentioned should be applauded. But to answer your question...if I had a QB in waiting that needed a couple of years as backup, I'd LOVE to have Favre for a couple of years. What's wrong with that? Why is that somehow wrong to want some quality level play at a position instead of mediocre play while you wait on your QBOTF? What's with all this desire to go through "pain" to reach nirvana? If you're really wanting to do this nebulous gutting/rebuild, you've already screwed it up by not moving mountains to get your franchise QB first. Since we have NOT done this, nothing you say applies to most every rebuild that's every been successful. So rebuild...forgive me...loses it's appeal and value.

Uhh huhh... Herm should have come right in and taken away the responsibility of the guy that hired him. And because it took him 2 years to do that, he's a failure....

Got it.
