So...say we win this thing. Isn't this the time to reset?

I guess it doesn't matter either way; looking at the cap, at the upcoming contracts, we're going to be doing a reset this offseason. Some core players will be moving on.

I think maybe it's time, and healthy.

I think maybe you let Bolton and Trey Smith go seek their fortunes.

I think you let Justin Reid walk.

I like Omenihu, but he keeps talking about the big money.

Wharton has played himself into a nice contract.

Things are going to look a lot different next season.

I think I'm extending Mcduffie and George on defense, and I'm building the offensive line around Creed and Thuney.

I agree that we can likely only keep one or two of Smith, Bolton, Omenihu or Reid.

But I’m not sure I’d call it a “reset” considering our Super Bowl quality roster and cap space after next season.

Go Chiefs!

At some point, we’re going to have to trade away a rising star for picks. We’ll need another 2022 draft eventually (not just the quality but the quantity).

I’ve mentioned this with Karlaftis. I love that guy, but maybe he’s playing himself into major trade comp?

So hard to not extend him though.

Never reset as long as mahomes is your quarterback. Why waste one of his final ten years? Take it to the bank every year you can.

I think you misunderstand.

A reset does not mean 'concede' a year.

But the reality of the salary cap is that occasionally you have to let good players walk, rather than try to let it ride another year.

We did this already, and won the Super Bowl in spite of it in '22.

You just can't pay everyone you would like to.

I agree with this. Another way of saying the same thing is that we are not going to be in "Run it Back Mode" but that doesn't mean we can't make a run at another Super Bowl.

Trey Smith is gone. And I'm 100 percent fine with that. And while we have struggled to find a natural LT, I think we have ample guard options. I'm all for extending Thuney, but I'm not going to do something stupid and break the bank. I'd love to keep Omenihu, but think a reset does more to set up Mahomes for continued success down the road.

I love Hollywood and Hopkins, but under this scenario I'd rather spend a draft pick on a WR in the middle rounds and just continue to develop guys. I've love to keep one of them, but its the same deal with Bolton, recognize the opportunity and we can all win. Brown should be willing to do another friendly deal since be basically was unavailable all year. I'd do another 1 year deal at 7-8m, or a team friendly multi year contract.

All that said, the draft is key and I think you are spending a lot of capital along both lines.

Where we are drafting DL looks like it could be the most impactful, but you have to keep an eye on the LTs. I'd like a DT and CB early, and depending on how the edge guys fall, I'd go there as well. Would love to find a steal at WR, TE, RB somewhere too.

In free agency find me some steal at a position we need a starter. Like LB, Safety, WR, G.

The LT spot is the scariest.
My mind says just let Bolton walk, but my heart says come to your senses dude, there is not a better place for you in the NFL. Sign a reasonable contract and everyone wins.

I think you have to keep McDuffie and George K. They are more foundational pieces on defense than Bolton.

I pretty much agree with Hoover. Keeping McDuffie and Karlaftis, both pillar positions, are key. Obviously, you have their 5th-year options to exercise but you lock those guys up.

I don't think you trade stars but I do think you let some guys walk for big deals and get some comp picks going forward. Of course, that is dependent upon not signing a bunch of big-name, high-dollar guys yourself. I think Reid, Bolton, Omenihu, and Smith, you let those guys all walk. There's a good chance you end up with a 3rd and a 5th at minimum out of all that.

You have Reid's replacement in-house with Hicks. You can go after a low-cost FA and draft an LB. My opinion is that LBs are pretty easy to obtain and you just need solidity there in this defense. You have Smith's replacement in-house in one of many guys. You have to bank on getting starter production out of FAU at some point and adding depth at DE, maybe in FA.

My opinion right now is to focus your attention in the draft on fixing LT (I don't know if the writing is on the wall yet but the move of Suamataia to OG and Morris to RT seems a bit telling at this point) first and then I'd like to see them take advantage of an elite DT class where you need new blood and depth. After that, fill in your depth at LB, CB, S, and RB.

It's a business, so you certainly have to consider it, but before you get too far along, you have to talk to Karlaftis and find out how much he's wanting to stay with the team that drafted him. If the guy is willing to give us a nice discount in order to stay with the team on a historic run, then you pretty much have to keep him.

Believe the correct word here is “reload”.

We’ll have 3 picks in the top 64, 4 in the top 96 and 5 in the top 131. Also according to over the cap, we are projected to have a 7th rd comp so that would put us at 9 total picks.

That’s a good opportunity to get young talented players.

But yeah I think Kingsley takes over at RG, Rashee/Worthy help take over for Kelce, Hicks is good, Conner fits a role, Roland-Wallace is growing. They’ve got young guys.

Also I’m pretty confident that at least one of Omenihu/Hollywood is coming back on a fair prove it deal. Maybe both considering they didn’t accumulate any stats to get big money.

I’m with Crow. Try to figure out LT if it’s possible. Go for one the strength of this class which is DT, RB and DB.

To Hoover…WR isn’t good this year in FA or the draft. Not a lot of depth with the kids coming out this year.

I agree entirely.

I think you can bring back Brown and Hopkins as neither is looking at a big payday, extend Mcduffie and Karlaftis and let pretty much everyone else looking for big bucks walk.

Draft BPA, fill in the holes with bargain free agents.

Got to fix LT, above and beyond all else.

Omenihu is unlikely to get big money -- I still think you get him for a deal similar to what he signed the first time. And I "charted" the entire AFCCG because I couldn't sleep last night and the sheer number of plays Justin Reid made makes him a priority re-sign, I think.

I do think it's time for Bolton and Smith to walk. Wharton is a goner. And I totally agree with your last sentence.

This team, for the record, is fully ready for a post-Kelce world. With Worthy and Rice both playing at Pro Bowl levels, this team should be able to move the chains reliably for years.

The biggest issue, I think, is what you do if Justin Reid walks. Cook is the only regular on this defense who is a net negative.

Also, I don't know what role Kingsley has on this OL going forward.

Next year it's likely Caliendo at RG and Wanya as swing tackle.

Caliendo Won’t be on the team next year.

Free agent. And I don’t know why you would pay him.

Commanders can continue to build their Oline with our leftover parts

Probably because you won't have to. Who's paying Caliendo anything more than backup money?
